This extension enhances Opera's abilities to show online documents. No matter if you click a link to a supported document on a website, paste or drag its link into the address bar(*) or select it in your browser history(*), Documents will do the rest - without the need of any plugin :) Supported file types: PDF Word (.doc, .docx) Excel (.xls, .xlsx) Powerpoint (.ppt, .pptx) Open Office (.odt, .ods) Apple Pages Adobe Illustrator (.ai) Adobe Photoshop (.psd) Tagged Image File (.tiff) Autodesk AutoCad (.dxf) Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg) PostScript (.eps, .ps) Fonts (.ttf, .otf) XML Paper Specification (.xps) (*) ### ATTENTION ### There's some extra setup necessary in order to make the latter two features work since Opera's extension APIs are pretty limited and thus the extension can’t configure this on its own. To get most out of Documents do the following: 1. go to Settings -> Preferences (Ctrl+F12) -> Advanced -> Downloads 2. uncheck "hide file types opened with Opera" 3. now choose any supported extension in the list (e.g. pdf) and click edit 4. select "Open with Opera" and click OK Repeat steps 3 and 4 for every supported file type you want the two aforementioned features to work. Then press OK to close Settings. Now choose the third option (extended function) for all concerned file types in Documents settings dialog and you're all set :) (You can also find this little guide in the extension's settings once you installed it) Why using Documents instead of a plugin (e.g. Adobe Reader)? + works on any device and operating system + running natively in Opera and not as a separate process -> can't crash or freeze Opera + faster (the document opens pretty much instantly since it is parsed online) + saves bandwith and thus money on a data plan (the file does not have to be downloaded at all) + mouse gestures are working + you can adjust the look and feel by yourself by modifying the extension's code + substitutes multiple plugins at once (supports a lot more formats than a usual plugin does) + uses less resources Documents makes use of Google Viewer.
