New TongWenTang
Switch display Chinese content between traditional and simplified glyphs
Description
New Tong Wen Tang is one of the most famous browser extensions among
all users who read Chinese.
Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese are more than two dialects
of Chinese. The characters mapping is many-to-many, both syntax and
terminology are different in these two Chinese languages. There is no
easy way to convert from Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese, or
vice versa. It was quite difficult for Chinese people to read
Taiwanese webpages in Traditional Chinese, nor is it easy for
Taiwanese people to read Chinese ones in Simplified Chinese.
New Tong Wen Tang features several functions, such as URL-based
conversion rules and phrase table, to handle these problems. The
conversion between Simplified Chinese webpages and Traditional Chinese
ones could be achieved with one click or automatically.
New Tong Wen Tang is Open-Sourced and available as Opera Extension,
Firefox Extension, Google Chrome Extension, Safari Extension, and
Bookmarklets for most web browsers. Please visit http://tongwen.openfoundry.org/
