base64 image encoder
Widget encodes images to data:url base64 for embedding in CSS and HTML. It main purpose to help web developers with including small images directly into styles and prevent extra HTTP network request.
Description
Widget is a standalone application, thus one doesn't need an internet connection for work.
Allowed file size to load is limited to 24 KB since IE8 doesn't read more than 32KB from URL (file size grows by one third after encoding). Also it prevents excessive memory usage and opening extra large pictures from a directory with too many images.
Thanks to Ruby Software for their toolbar icons. And special thanks to Opera Widget Builder. Without it developing could be much longer.
Known issues:
Widget icon is corrupted. Say thanks to new Opera version. Developers nearly never pay attention to reported critical bugs.
Text isn't copied automatically. This is because Opera restricts doing so. You can make a feature request via
Opera Bug Report Wizard
. My opinion that it could be useful at least for widgets.
Multiple files cannot be chosen. This is because
Opera hasn't implemented
multiple file access.
Widget crashes soon after opening file. Press “send crash report“, try again, and lets hope Opera will fix it someday. Opening a whole directory seems to be stable.

The widget just crashes. But I've found that images that are smaller than preview size get stretched and look ugly. Othervise might be a nice widget))). And I don't understand the limit to 24 KB. The widget's task is to encode files and not bother which browser supports what. IE7 doesn't support base64 at all, so let's not make this widget at all, right?
