: do you have javascript disabled or is your computer time off? the widget uses your computers time and javascript to find out what date it is. Edit - Nevermind looks like the comic pages i linked to aren't updating anymore (no fault on the widget) I'll look around and see about putting on new sites for the favorites
I've fixed some links and added a few others. Adam @ Home http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ad/{lyear}/ad{syear}{month}{day}.gif B.C. http://images.ucomics.com/comics/crbc/{lyear}/crbc{syear}{month}{day}.gif Boondocks http://images.ucomics.com/comics/bo/{lyear}/bo{syear}{month}{day}.gif Overboard http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ob/{lyear}/ob{syear}{month}{day}.gif The Pink Panther http://images.ucomics.com/comics/tmpnk/{lyear}/tmpnk{syear}{month}{day}.gif Several more cartoons at http://www.gocomics.com/comics/index.phtml (Scroll down for an alphabetic list.) Pick your favorite, right-click the image and "Copy image address" to get a direct link. (If this doesn't work: View->Source and find ".gif" until you hit the cartoon link.) Paste and edit to a format similar to the ones above. Enjoy!
I love the Pink Panther and the first few are working again! Thanks!
Nothing else to to today, so a few more... Baldo http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ba/{lyear}/ba{syear}{month}{day}.gif FoxTrot http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ft/{lyear}/ft{syear}{month}{day}.gif Frank & Ernest http://images.ucomics.com/comics/fa/{lyear}/fa{syear}{month}{day}.gif Gasoline Alley http://images.ucomics.com/comics/tmgas/{lyear}/tmgas{syear}{month}{day}.gif Shoe http://images.ucomics.com/comics/tmsho/{lyear}/tmsho{syear}{month}{day}.gif The Wizard of Id http://images.ucomics.com/comics/crwiz/{lyear}/crwiz{syear}{month}{day}.gif Keep enjoying!
I'm not sure if this problem has been addressed, but how do you widget the ones using numbers? I have problems getting Questionable Content Here are the ones i've created, if anyone likes these comics. Dueling Analogs: http://duelinganalogs.com/comics/{lyear}-{month}-{day}.png Least I Could Do: http://archive.licd.com/strips/{lyear}{month}{day}.gif Penny Arcade: http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/{lyear}/{lyear}{month}{day}.jpg VG Cats: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/images/{syear}{month}{day}.jpg
it's not working for me, the widget doesn't initiate connection, checked it on my firewall, other widgets seem fine javascript enabled, the computer time is on too edit: found the culprit i always use cached images in Tools > Preferences > Web Pages > Images
I would appreciate an option to view random strip.
dilbert and peanuts would be great but the url format is confusing..
Hey, is this widget still alive? Can we still wait for an update or is it hopeless? I mean: The last update was more than one year ago!
All reported bugs in the new issues tracker will be solved and a new version shall be launched soon
Let me know if you need/want any help shadow.
Well, I'm bored, so I'm going to rewrite the entire code (since it's rather clunky and the comments blow (as in they don't exist)) But, since rewriting code to do the same function as other code, using the other code as a template..without reusing it, is aggrivating and probably bad form (but i'm going to do it anyway!). I'll start off by adding a feature, autodetect anyone? I shall attempt to make it so you can input "http://cad-comic.com/comics/20071022.jpg" And it will convert it to "http://cad-comic.com/comics/{lyear}{month}{lday}.jpg" automagically. Obviously depending on how I do it this could take 1-5 seconds and a lot of code weight...So I'll take my time perfecting it. Update: I got sidetracked while writing this, and before submitting finished the first draft of an autodetect function, it searchs for the placements of month day and year, so comics that increment numbers aren't going to work...yet. Now, just the 'backend' is completed, meaning I have to hook it up to display stuff which isn't nescesarily my fortay..I also have to do some stuff that happens in the event of a complete url is not found ect. I also noticed I never made code to allow for a day that didn't have a leading 0..I hardcoded in adding the 0 on so I could use it as an int in other pieces of the code..hehe.. I'll be finetuning this for awhile to get it's search time down, (right now worst case it has to do around 105 string searches one possible method of making those faster is stripping down the url to only the nescesary pieces picking out the 'nescesary' bits will be the tricky part.) ShadowK let me know if you want in on this or not. I could really use you on the interface.
Well in English paper terms I'm now tweaking up the 'final draft' of the autodetect feature, so taking a break from coding i decided to come up with plans for the rest of it, feel free to read what I put up on my blog and comment, i'm really looking for user input on this, I don't want to rewrite it and then have to rewrite it again because I stupidly forgot a much needed feature. http://my.opera.com/Tmchenry/blog/ Thanks
thank you. just what i have been looking for
/me burries Comics Widget... I still use it! And I still wait for the update to use certain other toons...
