ISS widget shows the current position of ISS and calculates passes over your location.

Description

The International Space Station is a very bright object and can be easily seen, even under poor viewing conditions. This widget shows you its current position. It will also tell you, when it´s the best time to observe the sky to see the ISS. Click on the date in the tables to get a star chart and other pass details. Features in v1.3: option to manually enter your position Features in v1.2: your timezone is retrieved fixed bugs with timezone issue (hopefully) Features in v1.1: clicking on a row in visible pass table shows you the actual flight of the ISS fixed bugs works, when your location and alt could not be retrieved Features: actual ISS position all ISS pases over your location visible ISS pases over your location countdown till next visible pass This widget uses Opera´s geolocation feature to determine your position. With this information it is possible to specify your location and altitude using reverse geolocation. No information is send to third party. Please enable geolocation for this widget in order to run it, otherwise it won´t work. You also need at least Opera 10.60+ , since previous versions don´t support geolocation. P.S.: I think this is the first widget, that uses the geolocation feature.

Thanks. We have to wait until the Opera Widgets manager gets the geolocation feature.

It's a shame, it is very cloudy today. But that means I have enough time to learn reading the table (alt.,az.,mag.). Then I am going to await the next pass! The widget is cool and works perfectly!

Your info tab states that the Space Station is the only satellite visible "without the need of a telescope". That is just not true. Away from city lites there are dozens of visible satellites easily seen on any clear night. Even in the biggest cities, you can see the Space Shuttle, ESA resupply vehicle, Russian Soyuz and Progress ships and the Japanese H-II transport vehicle. Iridium satellites flare brighter than Venus at it's brightest. The ISS is by no means the only satellite visible to the naked eye.

Still has a few bugs. I entered my geographic location manually to a high degree of accuracy. It had no provision for me to manually enter a time zone, so it took the liberty of assigning my time zone as "China Standard Time, (UTC +8). I am in the Midwestern United States. Inaccurate time means worthless ISS visibility information. Additionally, it inaccurately assigned my elevation as 629 meters, which is considerably off, and there is no way to change that either. Not very pleased with this buggy widget.

Hi Robert, you probably forgot to enter "-" (minus) before your Longitude. I entered coordinates of Denver Lat: 39.73 Lng: -104.98 and I've got everything all right. Without "minus" you're in China
