Opera in your hotel: Opera 9 selected for the Tranzas TRZ-8300 set-top box

Oslo, Norway and Tokyo, Japan - January 31, 2007

Opera Software today announced that Opera 9 for Devices will be deployed on the new Tranzas set-top box, the TRZ-8300. Tranzas Inc. is the Japan-based leader in offering a complete solution for Video on Demand streaming and helping customers to find IP solutions for devices. Tranzas will use the Opera browser to deliver Web content and the user interface to the TRZ-8300, which is designed for deployment in hospitality market, including hotels, hospitals, and spas.

By including Opera on this device, hotel guests, for example, will have access to important hotel messages and news, as well as all their favorite Web sites. This line of Tranzas set-top boxes is also equipped with a hard drive. Users will be able to access the contents of the hard drive from an Opera Widget. Opera Widgets are small Web applications that can be viewed outside the browser window.

"We selected Opera for our set-top box because it delivers the most value to our device and helps us get our product to the market faster, while still providing the best user experience," says Hidehiko Fujiyoshi, Chief Executive Officer, Tranzas, Inc. "Opera's proven track record of high performance, compatibility with popular Websites and delivery of Web applications to devices make it the ideal browser for creating a superior Web experience from the comfort of a hotel room."

"Tranzas shows a clear focus on innovation by taking advantage of Opera 9 for Devices' capability to deliver Widgets to any device," says Scott Hedrick, Executive Vice President for Devices at Opera Software. "Opera serves as a powerful tool on the TRZ-8300 that allows Tranzas to customize their devices for different deployments using Web technology, a more cost efficient solution than developing applications natively. We are excited to be working with Tranzas and look forward to seeing Opera and Opera Widgets in hotel rooms around the world."

The Tranzas TRZ-8300 will be initially deployed in Japan, followed by European deployment through Echovision Ltd. in Greece. This set-top box is expected on the market in April 2007.
