Another catalog update!

February 28, 2011 · by Torgeir Lorange Østby

Earlier today we pushed a new version of the extensions catalog! I am sure you will appreciate some of the fixes.

Highlights for our users

  • Localized extensions are now listed only once. But note that if you search, you will still get hits in several languages (unless you filter on a specific language, of course).
  • The "New" list is no longer showing recently updated extensions. Only completely new extensions are listed.

Highlights for the extension developers

  • You can now edit the descriptions, upload new screenshots etc of your public extensions. Just go to the details from your list of extensions and click the edit button.
  • The input field for the extension summary is now slightly bigger.
  • Various excess files and directories are now automatically removed from your extensions when you upload them. These include .svn directories, __MACOSX directories, Thumbs.db, and the like. No harm should be done to the extensions themselves.

Enjoy! (While we, yet again, go back to working on the next release :smile:)

    Good! :wink:

    Just a word of advice: every extension should be "Recommended", even though with a very low rating. If you select a language with very few extension (like Italian) you arrive on the page of Recommended but the page is empty. Anyway, good work! :smile:

    @AndrewLow: Yeah, we are aware of the issue. Thanks!

    Do you remove ".git" and anything ".*" ??

    Since the "new" list doesn't show updated extensions any more, can we have a "recently updated" list that does? It's nice to be able to see when new versions of extensions are released.

    The only file that really annoys me is .DS_STORE :wink:

    @João Eiras: No, we don't.
    @Denis: The .DS_Store is stripped.
