Catalog update!

March 31, 2011 · by Torgeir Lorange Østby

New changes to the extensions catalog were released today! Here are some highlights:

  • You can now update your rating of an extension. Just go to the details page of an extension and log in, and your rating will pop up just below the descriptions.
  • The release also introduces the possibility to report and discuss problems with extensions. You can find the reports together with the reviews.
  • All the languages an extension is available in are now listed in the top right information box on the details pages.
  • The developer guidelines have been moved to dev.opera.com. Make sure to update your links!

Enjoy!

I'm kinda missing a link from developper's view of one's extension to the catalog-view (one of the many links – blue extension name, details button, … – could be ”sacrificed“ for that).

Please add the ability to add extensions to "Favorites".

Still i can't get list updated extensions via web site.

And ideas and sugesstions section (like report problems section) could be nice.

I have the feeling "other languages" would be better as a drop-down list...

add the ability to mark extension as favorite (for my opera users),
and a link to list all favorites if the user is logged in.

This way it would be easy to reach to the extension instead of searching or scrolling through list.

For extensions in multiple language, search returns all the languages.
Check the search result for Facebook, it's all filled up with lots of duplicates.

Instead of listing each extension in separate language you can display a small flag showing the extension availability for that language, as seen in many sites for translation purpose.

+1. I agree all of them...

will a reported problem stay forever?
or how to "close" the problem when released a new version which fixes it?

@timmi: The reporter can delete the report

Maybe the message when viewing an extension with an incompatible browser should not be #404.
It seams that it confuses some people: www.browserscene.com/2011/04/use-logos-instead-of-thumbnails-in-your.html , look at the comments.
Maybe something like: "This extension only works with (list of opera versions)".
