1 million downloads of Opera 9.6 (wow, that's a lotta browsers!)

October 9, 2008 · by EspenAO

The buzz surrounding Opera 9.6 is mindblowing. The downloads are increasingly fast. Everything is ... good!

When we launched Opera 9 back in 2006^* it took us four days to reach the same amount of downloads^* we now have. It seems that more and more are getting increasingly aware of Opera, thanks to you.

In addition, our weekly user base has increased with 25% since we launched Opera 9.5 back in June this year. All of this couldn't have been made possible without your continued effort to spread the word and support us. We are forever thankful.

* Some of you might remember the 1 million download swim we did for the Opera 8 launch? With Opera 9.6 we simply sent Jon to India for a community meet up. It seemed to do the trick.

* New super fast technology server in place to serve people a better browser.

I caught that as well. Also, "In adition," should be "In addition," haha.
