Android hangout with Opera
With the launch of Opera for Android yesterday, we got a ton of questions about the new browser. To help answer some of these, two of our in-house experts are going to host a Google+ Hangout tomorrow.
Nuno Sitima, SVP in the Consumer Browser department and Program Manager Gautam Chandna will be online on Friday the 24th starting at 3PM CEST. Just drop by the Opera Google Plus page for the direct link before we start!
Be sure to follow our other social channels for more Opera for Android tips and tricks!

This is exactly the wrong attitude. I mean, the decision to switch to webkit/chrome core/interface was made and there is no going back. I'm quite sure most of as has several features which we miss dearly, but I'm also quite sure Opera Devs worked very hard every day to make Opera 14 what it is now and they will continue making it better so that it would soon reach the quality of Opera 12. Now Opera is giving us an option to let them know what is important for us and how we feel about decisions that were made during development of Opera 14.
The best thing you can do now, is to pick one or two most important missing features for you and prepare good arguments why should they be implemented, why should they be implemented sooner than other features and why would a higher amount of people appreciate them. With a bit of luck and if the two Opera employees will be willing to change their minds on some matters you could make a difference. Saying just "Opera 14 is bad" won't help anyone and if anything it will just discourage Opera devs to make any more afford than necessary.

There doesn't appear to be any articulation in the direction you describe; and such should have appeared with the appearance of Opera 14 Beta for Android. Instead we have a total eclipse of information.
I would be glad if life proves you are right, and I hope tomorrow's Hangout would give some vision and articulation...

And I can't upgrade if I wanted to. It's listed as incompatible with my phone.

Note that Opera 14 inherits the rating of Opera Mobile, which I think is definitely not fair.
Opera 14 just sits at the same seat in Google Play where Opera Mobile was.
May be complaints should go to Google Play regulations instead.
Currently there is a similar situation with Google Talk and Google Hangouts.
Hangouts comes as replacement of Talk, and it was clearly stated in the Hangouts title, it was formulated something like this:
Googla Hangouts (replaces Talk)
Which was not done for Opera 14 -- the replacement took place silently.

Any problem with the browser would be detected in a basic preliminary test, and simply changing the browser would be an easy-to-guess solution.
So I hope there was some unpredictable problem with the connection, and not something that would get fixed by changing the browser...
