CES

January 7, 2011 · by .ed

Well this is it, the big International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. 120,000+ industry insiders and press converge on a series of massive convention halls to meet with each other and show off what they have been and will be working on or delivering this year.

CES is so large, that news from this 4 day show takes weeks to find it's way online and into newspapers. But we can't wait that long, so we're looking for some exciting tech and gadgets to share with you now.

First, and most importantly, are Opera's big announcements and those of some of our partners:

Some interesting announcements from the show floor:

Verizon unveiled it's 4G LTE network and some Android devices for it. Polaroid and Lady Gaga unveiled a bizarre pair of, what else, sunglass-cameras that have lcd screens over your eyes. No idea if it's for real, but if this is how you do business these days I'd like to see what would come out of a partnership between Amazon and Bobcat Goldthwait (hopefully Classic Novels, read aloud by Bobcat).

Some interesting tech news from other parts of the world:

Also, anything really awkward or poignant that I hear (or more likely say) at CES is posted in our @OperaFollow Opera on Twitter twitter feed, so be sure to follow and enjoy.

Oh and for the sake of comedy, I got tased (video forthcoming).

and qualcomm's full color e-ink displays unvieled which uses lower power than kindle e-ink without backlight and can play video at 60 fps.this probably is gonna redefine the e-readers and tablets as we know it.

Microsoft's Surface 2.0 with pixelsense looked pretty nice. And the Apple App Store has already been hacked. Lots of people pirating "Angry Chickens for Mac" or something....

very nice, Sony makes good hardware but software-wise... well nice to hear Opera will be in Sony's TV's; have you browsed the web with the PS3 browser ? lol, i just cant.
