Create a cool Speed Dial icon for your website

March 17, 2011 · by Espen André Øverdahl

As of version 11.10 (download the beta), Opera allows you to control how your website looks in Speed Dial. By default, Speed Dial uses a screen capture of the web site. But now site owners can specify an icon or serve Speed Dial-specific CSS or content.

So, in other words, you as a user can not control how the different sites looks in Speed Dial. It's up to the provider/website owners. We've modified My Opera to show custom content in the new Speed Dial flow. Let us know what you think.

You can also get the weather nicely integrated in Speed Dial.

If you want learn how to create a custom sweet looking icon for your website, check out this Dev.Opera article.

I guess I should update the Weather speed dial "widget", so it uses this new speed dial possibilities

Interesting. Will definitely try it myself. I'm just wondering, how to change the icons of websites that I do not own? I had created lots of icons for my speed dial but since 11.10 it seems that the icon generation works different including scaling and moving. I'd love if you could manually add a PNG in the edit dialogue of each speed dial icon.

Like everything about it except this

    I want to choose myself.
