Breaking news from Scandinavia

Summer is known for being quiet (for news), but for us, this is the news seasons of all news seasons. You can read incredible stories about real people in real situations, and if you combine this with a touch of randomness with Google Translate you get high quality entertainment for many hours.

Here are some (extremely) local news highlights from Scandinavia. We'd love to see what sorts of weird news stories that are happening in your part of the world too. Post a link to something as a comment below!

Champagne Polemics

A dispute over how to pronounce the name of a fine French champagne led to a fight between youths from Asker and Bærum. Those kids...

Tortelinni and a can of worms, please

Seagull and duck crashed - Police to investigate

A little over five o'clock in the afternoon the police were notified of an accident on the E39 just north of Eidsvåg tunnel. - "It's a seagull and a duck that has collided. Now I just noticed that there is talk of a fatal accident", says operations manager Bjarne tangles in the Hordaland police district. Nature is wilder than you think in this story...

Woman caught sitting down by the road - amazing

A little after half past two night to Sunday, the police received notice of a woman who was sitting down on the E-39 road in Studalen in Stord.

Who is this mysterious woman?

Follow-up story: Who was the E39 chick?

Sunnhordland's news story about the woman sitting by the road was about... nothing - and ended up as a national news item. Fascinating (or is it?).

Your appetite for this news story is insatiable...

Damn, at first I thought this 'breaking news' may qualify for posting on http://www.reddit.com/r/firstworldproblems/

but now I think it may actually require its own subreddit:

THE ULTIMATE EXPRESSION OF FOOTBALL FANS RAGE

Fifty-two-year-old hot-tempered River Plate fan Santiago 'Tano' Pasman was secretly filmed by his children while he was watching a match where the soccer team not only lost but also went to 'B' --or second division-- for the first time in a century. In the video the man gets angry and shouts insults at the TV set including swearing and racism. The video was intended to show Tano Pasman he had a problem and should calm down, but later it was uploaded to YouTube getting over 6 million views (and lots of laughter) in one week, and overnight the man became a superstar highly requested by the media. In many interviews he is asked to reproduce the scene but, needless to say, he feels very embarrassed because of the video. Many people made their own parody versions on YouTube such as Tano Pasman learns Michael Jackson has died and Tano Pasman watching The Lion King. He even has a Facebook page!

TV PRESENTER SUDDENLY MAD DURING LIVE BROADCAST

Just when a soccer fan became famous for a crazy display of anger at the failure of his favourite team captured in a video, Alejandro Fantino, a famous television presenter for a sports programme in the channel 'América', got mad at his producer all of a sudden during a live broadcast. Apparently the TV presenter was under such a pressure that exploded in anger live, surprising all the people in the set--and at their homes-- by shouting 'Stop Mozes, stop! I don't care if it's commercial time at Telefe, stop!'. Mozes, the producer, was hurrying Fantino because it was time for commercials in the rival TV channel so it was the perfect chance to show a video they had been announcing. Also, a common practice in Argentina is that TV stations synchronize on-air and advertising times, to ensure people watch only their channel instead of changing channels, which affects the effectiveness of advertisement.

Sadly there is little time for local news now. The headlines are all the same and they are incredibly depressing.
