Have browser, will travel
At Opera, we really enjoy meeting our users, and we make it a point to attend as many events as we can. In September alone, we'll be at 5 events in 5 countries.
At Opera, we really enjoy meeting our users, and we make it a point to attend as many events as we can. In September alone, we'll be at 5 events in 5 countries. As you can see here, we plan to travel the world to tell people about Opera. If you'd like to volunteer to help us out at these events, or even if you just want to come by and say hello, we'd love to hear from you. If you're too far away to attend the listed events, keep in mind that we're constantly looking to add new events to the list.
For example, at South by Southwest (SXSW) earlier this year, we had a blast telling people about Opera and meeting really passionate Opera fans. We'd love to go again, and we have already submitted a number of panel proposals featuring Opera speakers. Please consider voting for the following proposed panels:
1. Browser Wars: Deja Vu All Over Again?
Presenter: Arun Ranganathan, AOL
This panel will bring together representatives of the browser groups at Apple, Microsoft, Mozilla, and Opera. All of these companies currently participate in the W3C's standardization initiatives around "next generation" APIs and formats. Where's the Web platform going with emerging standards versus proprietary special-sauce, and who talks smack about who?
2. Browsing Without Boundaries: The Rise of the Ubiquitous Web
Presenter: Hakon Wium Lie, Chief Technology Offcer, Opera Software
The ubiquitous Web is upon us, finally. With devices like the iPhone and Nintendo's Wii, more people are utilizing the Web on any device. What does this mean for social interaction and the creation of content and services catering to this new lifestyle? How does this impact developing countries?
3. The Real Dragon: Behind the Scenes of China's Web Industry
Presenter: Tatsuki Tomita, Senior Vice President for Consumer Products, Opera Software
We've seen the media reports about China's red hot Web and mobile industries, but it's time to discover the truth. What key social, economic and technology drivers exist? What differences can we expect as China's mobile and Web companies grow? These questions and more will be discussed by the people shaping those industries.
Finally, if there are any great events in your area (wherever you are in the world) that you think Opera should consider, please let us know.
