Helping people to understand Opera's vision

Have you ever talked to someone about Opera and the fact that it runs on the Wii and on mobile phones, and gotten a response like this:

"Oh, Opera is a great phone browser company."
"Oh, Opera is a great embedded browser on devices."
"It's nice that Opera has shifted its focus away from the desktop to devices"
"It's terrible that Opera has shifted its focus away from the desktop to devices"
"Opera still makes a desktop browser?"

It's true that Opera is great on the Wii and other devices, and that Opera provides the best mobile browsing experience to millions of people using all kinds of phones, but that's only part of the story. Opera is trying to push the envelope by making the concept of the Web Everywhere a reality, but you have to pay attention to Opera's overall and long-term strategy to see that. Otherwise, it's easy for people to think we just make browsers for phones and other devices and don't care about our desktop browser. That's simply untrue.

In reality, we love Opera for Desktop and believe in it strongly, and we are feverishly continuing to develop and market it. Today, Haavard very nicely explained the situation on his blog.

If, like me, you talk to people about Opera, be sure to read Haavard's post. It will help you explain to people where Opera is coming from and what we're is trying to achieve, which is "to deliver the best Internet experience on any device on all major platforms." It's an ambitious goal, but if we don't do it, who will?

NO! I haven't gotten a single one of those responses. But I've gotten a few of these:

    Opera, who?
Can you please stop talking about Opera?
Opera, I am so sick and tired of not getting into.....!
All of a sudden my mail was gone!

    and so on

uhu ok, but ie has tabs too now....
