Is Opera Coming to YOUR University?

We are excited to announce that our university tours program for this semester starts Monday!

From mid October to early December Opera Software will be hosting seminars in universities in South Africa, China, Indonesia, Ukraine, Russia, Germany and Poland. These seminars explore the history and future of the Web, mobile browsing and of course go into detail on Web standards and opening the Web. Students will be able to gain new perspectives on IT trends, ask questions to developers and product managers from Opera Software, and network directly with people in the IT industry.

The time and venue details for the first of our seminars are now available, and stay tuned to that page as more universities are confirmed! Community meet-ups and other events held during the tours will be announced in the Choose Opera calendar (in the sidebar of this page). You can also follow our adventures on the university tours blog during the tour.

However the list of locations indicates the tours are where Opera is most dominant in (Apparently Opera is significant in Russia Ukraine etc, unlike it in the US) and developing areas such as China, Indonesia where the wonders of the Web haven't been fully bought to most people yet...

Haha, nice to see some positivity guys! We were in India and Brazil last semester, we are indeed going to Poland this semester, and we'll be in the US next semester.

We do not have an unlimited budget for travel - so unfortunately we cannot go everywhere, though we certainly wish we could!

fredsk2006: Actually Philippines is not in the top 10 yet (http://www.opera.com/smw/2009/07/) though we hope we can grow things more there.
