I really don't understand how the blatant, obvious objectification of women is helpful marketing. It really just doesn't make any sense. It's just hurtful, tacky, and tasteless.

I think it's important to note that this is for the Bulgarian market. Things might be a bit different there than what we are used to. In Norway I don't think this kind of marketing would work, but think about tech-shows in Asia. Booth babes are the norm and everyone uses them. It's all about different cultures and norms.

I don't buy it. The only way Bulgarians buy things is if a pretty girl tells them to? This should be about standing up for a greater morality, which you have not seriously considered. This sets women back in the technological field, if not generally. And that makes me very disappointed.

I have to say I agree with wilkie05, this is rather dumb. You can't justify it by saying it's done elsewhere. I find it insulting that it's done for anything - racing, car shows, or even opera.

Booth babes are one of the things holding women back in the tech industry. We shouldn't just say "oh it's okay" just because it's the norm. How is anyone suppose to make any progress with that sort of attitude?

    After Orgasm Club

What exactly are these girls being paid for?

True. It also works better than anything else in the tech industry. Rather sad really.
  • Justin SlayerWednesday, August 17, 2011 9:02:38 PM

It's well known that using beautiful women sells stuff. They even use beautiful women to sell to other women.

Also, this is being done by M-Tel Bulgaria, not by Opera. And come on, it's in eastern Europe. Everyone knows they are a bit weird over there.

So all you idiots who are whining about Opera need to get a clue.
