Mobile reception at the South Pole?

January 21, 2010 · by Espen André Øverdahl

Norwegians testing Opera Mini at the the South Pole

Norwegians' favorite travel destination, Antarctica, must have good mobile reception. It seems that some have been using Opera Mini in Antarctica. See the graph.

So, what content do you think they've been browsing?

Remember, there are phones with wi-fi.

As for browsing, maybe they're reading about Crean or Shackleton.

If someone checks StatCounter about Mobile browsers, Opera appears as 100% market share, and as preferred Mobile OS a majority uses Symbian OS, then Sony Ericcson.

    Interesting...

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads
  • Charles SchlossSaturday, February 13, 2010 7:52:24 PM

The roads are a bunch of snow covered and part of the year you can't even walk out side (condition 1)
