Most underhyped application of 2008?
According to an article on Lifehacker dated back early in December Opera was listed as one of the most underhyped application of 2008, which was a great year for the Norwegian browser company with many product releases. Worth mentioning is their praise of Opera users (which we all know to be true):
"While our current browser stats show usage numbers that trail behind newcomer Chrome, Opera users are almost religious about their love for the free browser."
There are also other great software products listed which all deserve a spotlight. ![]()

Unfortunately, Google owns YouTube. Hmmm... maybe Opera can take over Facebook, Myspace, Hyves, World of Warcraft, and Second Life...

Another underdog is As Muncher. I just can't fathom why some people think AdBlock/urlfilter is better/sufficient... sigh.
Third on my list is UlitimateDefrag. Besides being the best file placement optimizer thanks to the sheer number of choices (and speed), it's also the only program that can not only defrag all types of NTFS metadata, but also allows you to specify their exact placement and customize exact MFT sizes!!
A few others in my list are: bbClean (Blackbox), Naviscope, Toonel, AutoHotkey, Puppy Linux, POP Peeper, foobar2000, UltraExplorer, cFosSpeed, IOBit SmartDefrag, Sequoia View, UltraVNC, Miranda IM, Abyss Web Server...
Here's wishing that the new year ushers in better luck for deserving programs
