Opera at the Mobile Monday NY conference

Opera at the Mobile Monday NY conference

Lasts night I attended the Mobile Monday conference in New York. After the panel discussions we had about an hour of social networking time served with some food and drinks.

From almost immediately after the panel was over to when nearly everyone left I was busy talking with people about Opera. I had virtually no time to take a break and grab some food for myself, since people were constantly coming over to me. In fact most of the time I was talking to groups of about 2-3 people.

Most of the people I had spoken with already new about Opera and Opera Mini. Many of them came over to tell me how cool Opera is. I had one person even tell me (and the small crowd gathered around me) how AirFrance seemed to give him cheaper airline tickets when browsing with Opera on the desktop as opposed to with Firefox or Internet Explorer.

When I demoed the new Opera Mini 4 beta I especially got big crowds around me. People found the new desktop-like view and zooming really cool. Some already had the new Opera Mini beta on their phones.

I gave out many Opera Mini business cards, which were also a huge hit. These business cards are shaped like a phone and are thicker than your typical business card and covered with a glossy touch. Here is a picture of the Opera Mini business card.

I usually attend the monthly Mobile Monday events in NY. Tonight I plan on going to the Web 2.0 Social Meetup, also in NY.

I always enjoy telling people about Opera.

Does anyone else want some of those Opera Mini cards? I'll send a bunch (first come, first serve) to anyone who has a good plan on how to distribute them to a group of people who might be interested in installing Opera Mini. Of course, you have to carry out the plan you suggest, and let us know how it goes

I would be happy to distribute them to my classmates
But not until September(when school starts) :-)
I'm sure they'll be impressed of OperaMini's features!

Perhaps you can demo Opera Mini to them, and when they ask how to get it for themselves, you can hand them the card?

You mean show them how it works on my phone?

However, I don't think so.If they ask me how to get it for themselves, I would just say: opermini.com . They don't need the card to download it.
In my opinion, the card should be given first, to call up their interest.

Demoing their favorite sites on a phone always makes a good impression.

Also, having the card will a)remind them of the address and b)remind them to visit the address.

I sent it over bluetooth a few times. But it's generally a good idea for people to have something with the address on it because it's easily forgotten.
