Opera Meets Opera Van Java

Quite a few of our Twitter friends in Indonesia regularly tweet to us about a TV show called Opera Van Java, or OVJ for short.

Being fans of gamelan already, we decided to check it out. Unfortunately, since none of us here in Oslo speak Bahasa Indonesia, we were a little bit lost.

Here's where we you can help us out. Are any of you in Indonesia fans of the show? How would the Opera browser fit into an episode of Opera Van Java?

just when I thought it would be about something like Opera's own Java implementation so applets would suck less... I don't like these kind of articles.

Actually we (ex Opera Campus Crew Indonesia) have once joined the OVJ show. Please read Our report here
OVJ is a famous daily TV show from a national TV network, Trans7 (quite highest rating TV program ) and I think, I could connect them to Agnes and Pak Daud (Opera Indonesia).

Hi anna, let me explain The different things about this. Yes the program for computer and gadget phone is use the Opera program, but in indonesia opera van java just the television program. Iikes some comedy with java cultural. Thanks..

Opera could cooperate with OVJ creative team by giving one main story (complete with storyline/storyboard). OVJ is a comedy show that run with storyline (usually mentioned by the puppeteer and then the puppet will develop the conversation spontaneously and mostly joke). I think "Opera van Oslo" or "Opera van Norway" would be a good title or something like that . Right now OVJ also do a roadshow (off site shooting) so It would be fantastic if Opera could invite them (Parto, Andre, Sule, Azis, Nunung and 2 sinden/singer)to do a roadshow to Oslo with the title above "Opera van Oslo"

OVJ is a comedy program televised almost every night in Indonesia, TRANS 7 is a local broadcaster that promotes OVJ.

OVJ is the one of the most popular comedy show in Indonesia! You'll regret it, if you never see them on the stage just for one day!

On their performance, they sometimes wearing costumes.
Opera can endorse them to wear Opera Ninja costume, that would be awesome

OVJ is the most popular comedy show in Indonesia, and usually having a "Road Show" in cities in Indonesia.
I think Opera can invite the whole OVJ crew to make a live comedy show in Oslo, so we can introduce Indonesia culture of Wayang and Gamelan, also the style of Indonesian comedy.

I don't think you can. Opera van Java is an opera, a drama, and doesn't have anything to do with browser or internet or technology at all. Unless you want to meet Opera van Java's actors or be a guest star at a show.

OVJ had been for about 2 years broardcasted. Maybe opera would make funny skin browser for fresh looking as ovj actors/actress are funny and always fresh.
Yee.. Opera Van Java is my favorite as opera my fav brows.. but i have difficulties in many major web service which not support even using the lastest vers. You opera can take HTML5 and CSS 2.1 STANDART FULL SUPPORT and Famaous JavaScipt Library Full Support for gain popularity...THEN place logo HTML5 CSS-2 STANDART FULL SUPPRT in your browser installation. This will attract the webmasters

OVJ love to use unique show title, may be you can use this: "OPERA VAN BROWSER" or "OPERA BROWSER VAN JAVA" and over the OVJ management as advertiser.
The story line are one of the figure use a gadget (cellphone,etc) that use opera as browser.
