I suppose Opera Mini also has a smaller carbon footprint than full browsers  Less data transfered via mobile network is less power used on client side and less often you need to charge the battery on your mobile phone

hopefull AT&T will pressure apple in allowing opera mini on the iPhoneif that happens AT&T's data strain all over the US will be reduced immensely I am also wondering if opera mini can run on the iPad that would be a plus for opera and at&t as well!

hat wont be a + for AT&T , they charge per mbyte ,right ? less mbyte .. less money for them ..

AT&T commissioned a special version of Mini for its own use. In the US, most AT&T data plans have a flat price per month. When users pay a flat price for bulk data access, AT&T benefits from reducing their consumption.

Opera's primary strategy with Mini is twofold: Users on per-MB plans can download and install Mini, and save money on their data plan. Vendors can preinstall Mini and offer "unlimited" plans at a fixed price, while increasing their profits with reduced data usage.

Plus, it's very fast. And compulsive phone users REALLY like that.
