Looks fab. Hopefully available soon, soon, soon.

(Btw, enable HTML5/WebM in the embed code, so don't need Flash to watch it in Opera 11.)

    *-----*

It should have two context menu command for opening tabs: one for opening ibn new tab and other to open a new tab on the background. :/

Do you know what HTML5 is? What it means to "support HTML5"?

Opera Mini is a proxy that fetches a file from a server. The server converts a webpage made of html, js, images, css etc into a single zipped download file with a new file format understood by mini.

So it supports what the server chooses to understand. The server does not convert flash, or pdf files. It wont work perfectly with AJAX, and probably some of the newest HTML5 stuff.

When ever Opera Mini 6 is approved and is in the iOS App Store

I have heard running off of Opera's server is dangerous... Which is why for so long it was rejected by Apple to be on the iPhone. I wouldn't sign into your bank account using Opera Mini. Is this true it's dangerous and why?

Overall the browser looks stable and a lot better than Safari... I do prefer the Safari look though... Opera looks cheap and cheesy.

When released I'll give it a go and find out how good it is... But this video was a while ago... Is it even ever being released still?

Not at all dangerous, all that is done on the Opera servers is compressing the pages, and the logging of the domain (like facebook.com or microsoft.com (no other things about what you do on the site, than just the domains base url for stats) (State of the Mobile web report)

When you request a page in Opera Mini, the request is sent to the Opera Mini server that then downloads the page from the Internet. The server then packages your page up in a neat little compressed format (we call it OBML)

from With the compressed data you also get less data usage as it is compressed server side

You can get Opera Mini 5 right now in the iOS App Store (Opera Mini 6 is awaiting approval (which I am waiting for))

For me on the slow or crowed connections Opera Mini is more than 10 times faster, what is also cool is you can Sync it with Opera Link

No, it is not dangerous, and Apple never rejected Opera Mini. Apple approved it, remember?

Really? I think Safari is the one that looks cheap and cheesy, while Opera looks good.

Thanks for answering my questions! (:
sorry if they seem harsh ):

I was forced into using Google Chrome on my Mac Computer for a while... but finally I am happy with Opera on my Mac again (: I hope it's gonna be the same for iOS devices!
The current Opera Mini is very poor on the iPhone and worse on the iPad (due to being iPhone app)
So I am waiting patiently for the new browser as I enjoy the Opera experience! I know Opera can make the alternate browser!

As for the looks... Safari looks plain... not cheesey.
But I haven't seen the Opera app for myself... Maybe it's cus I'm not used to it? never the less if the app is better than Safari (I'm 99.99% it is! xD) I'll use it no matter what it looks like

And added... Thank god it's safe xD I read reports it can be dangerous... but I guess them reports talk trash

The future looks bright for Opera!
    Thanks again!

I also thank you for the clarifications on Opera Mini. But does it take that long to approve the app... This video is nearly 2 months old  Oh and sorry for my bad English.

The whole process is rather bureaucratic and I think the personnel responsible for it is reduced in numbers. I really hope the update will appear soon in the App Store :furious:
  • Charles SchlossTuesday, April 19, 2011 10:42:55 PM

The process tho does weed out malware, and other code that could get them in legal trouble if it is a copy of others
