Opera Mobile 9.7

June 8, 2009 · by Espen André Øverdahl

Opera Mobile 9.7 completely reinvents the Web browser on mobile phones. It provides an elegant browsing experience, while also making smartphones a new home for cross-platform applications. It marks a turning point in the ongoingevolution of the Web.

What we believe in: One Web

In 2000 we released our first Web browser for a mobile device. Since that, we’ve blurred the boundaries between the experience you get on desktop- and mobile browser. We believe there is only One Web. The sites, services and Web applications that you rely upon should be available on any device. It seems this is finally happening, eight years after we instigated the idea. Welcome Opera Mobile 9.7.

Cool stuff in Opera Mobile 9.7

Opera Turbo: Advanced compression technology to speed up data transfer and to reduce the amount of data that needs to be downloaded.
Opera Widgets: Small, handy standards-based Web applications that run locally on you phone, giving you one-click access to your favourite web services.
Opera Dragonfly: Open source cross-platform developer tool.
And much, much more!

opera dragonfly?? i was waiting a new opera mobile!! awesome, thanks, i'll try it right away --edit: works great!! (guess from where i'm posting) faster than 9.5, doesnt lock while loading. very good responsiveness. doesnt lock the rest of the apps, a full size view is really fast ! and is more natural and efficient for browsing. is as fast as my dedktop pc (almost) the only thing is that mobile view doesnt work like b4, specially in landscape mode, good enough 4 me i even have a screenshot uploaded with opera.

Quickpost this image to Myspace, Digg, Facebook, and others!

I have problems with file download in Opera 9.7. I wonder wherether it's the feature of beta version or my device (Samsung WiTu)? There were no problems with 8.65
