My turn to be honest. Windows 8 is going to be a history. Windows 8 is exotic. It's the first time Microsoft has taken care of user experience, security and other things altogether.

Will Opera be making a metro version for Windows 8?

Opera works fine on Win8, but doesn't support touch, so the experience on the Developer Preview Tablet is mediocre (unless you connect a mouse, which was not in the package).

So judging from the screenshots, that search field seems to be OS-independent - on larger screens, it will be wider than usual with no way to shrink it. I consider this a bug, I think I reported it some time ago.

I'm going to try the development Windows 8 OS, just to give it a fair shake, and a thorough wringing-out. To answer all of the nay-sayers in this thread, here's my observation: when Windows wanted to look more like Apple's 'Quartz' in Mac OS X, they came up with Vista (yikes!). When you're operating in 32 or 64-bit 'data packets' like Windows does, you shouldn't try to overreach. Disable Windows Aero, and Vista was still jumpy - but, not as bad. Ubuntu is Linux-based Intel / AMD on steroids; great, because of its open-source platform, which creates new ideas - and, man, what ideas (my smartphone is HTC/Android - I chose that platform over the iPhone)! However, when you're Joe Consumer, and you want a computer out-of-the-box that has cutting-edge architecture, graphics, and UI to die for - look no further than Mac. It's Unix kernel is super-stable, and Apple programmers are unto a class their own. However, Windows-based computers are the market leader - and if they're going to stay fresh and hip, it's no surprise that the new GUI in Windows 8 is reminiscent of their popular X-BOX franchise. We can sit there and poo-poo Microsoft's efforts, but, they still lead the market. They have a cheaper price point, as well, compared to Linux-based horsepower monsters, and power-finesse machines like Apple's. In the not-too-distant future, everything's going to be in the cloud - and, as I'm sure everyone knows - Opera is blazing a huge trail, in that regard. It will then be a contest of who has the slickest control surface, and most powerful interface - rather than whose OS is the best. So, let's all cheer for everyone - our future depends upon it. My two cents.

The mobile phone OS Windows 8 or the desktop computer OS Windows 8?

I've had bad experiences with OS's that have the little blue and red X's and minus window things. Great. I was looking forward to Windows 8. D:

View? Like you can install it to have a different style instead of regular XP? Cool then.

By the way, it doesn't look much different. :\
