Revolutionary motion control is revolutionary

April 1, 2011 · by Espen André Øverdahl

Today is April 1st. April Fool's Day. Two years ago we announced Opera Face Gestures. Today Google announced Gmail Motion.

"For us, Google's latest innovation was just an April Fools joke a few years back, so we are really impressed with them actually taking this to the market. We called our invention "Face Gestures", but "Motion" is probably a better name for a product that is not only a joke", says Jan Standal, the boss of Desktop Products here at Opera.

When Aleksander, our Face Gestures model, was asked about his opinion on Google Motion turning the kinesthetic technology into reality, his eyes welled with tears of joy and said: "I knew this day would come."

It would be great to see Opera on Microsoft Xbox with Kinect. Eg, jump and click the link.

The sad part is that it is a joke on both parts but I want it implemented for both face and body gestures. Only with more serious body gestures.

    PS
This isn't copying, this is the usual. Opera inovates, Google innovates something different later, they then integrate each others ideas and try to improve on what the other did, then Google gets most of the credit
