Say hi to the new Opera Portal!

November 10, 2010 · by Aleksander Aas

The new version of Opera Portal is out, and it packs a punch! The new design combines HTML5 and CSS3 with improved performance through a new faster back-end.

New Opera Portal

Opera Portal is a site featuring aggregated content from your favorite sites. Either use the list of feeds provided or add your very own. The lists included are tailored to your country, and we are constantly updating the list of built in feeds.

New Opera Portal

Among the other new features is our new favorite the web comic viewer. There are also loads of other cool new features worth checking out.

The team is looking to get more feedback before moving from the current beta state to final, so please take some time to explore the site. We would love it if you could provide feedback in the comments below!

A way to customize and add our own search engines will be nice. I try to avoid Google these days. I prefer Scroogle.org or Ixquick.com

    Everything else is great!
  • Daniel G. BlázquezWednesday, November 10, 2010 1:34:59 PM

I have Windows with larger fonts (in "screen properties"). But big fonts break the new Opera layout..

    a.k.a.
    "My buddy, my buddy
    Wherever I go, he go"

There's a bug in the German version of the Portal. It only appears when being logged in to it: The text overlaps the icon (resp. the button on the right side is bigger than the left one, hence the bug with the text and the icon):

    Love it, a big improvement.
Its great being able to drag the panels around & now you can get to older posts via the archive button.
  • Ed FlandersWednesday, November 10, 2010 10:30:41 PM

There are some feeds that do not get refreshed unless I click 'Home' or another category. For instance, this happens with BBC News (World Edition).
    I'm using Opera 11 (1055) with Mandriva 2010.1
  • Keith BatesWednesday, November 10, 2010 11:53:25 PM

I'm finding that my feeds are not being updated.

Also I have authorised Opera Portal to update my status on my Opera. My new status appears on the My Opera "home" page but not on my personal blog page.
  • Keith BatesWednesday, November 10, 2010 11:54:30 PM

Correction to the previous post-- if I click on the edit button on my blog page, it then updates the status.

The portal is coming to life now. Good job.
  • Vladimyr IvanovThursday, November 11, 2010 5:44:34 AM

why I need the link to "Download Opera", if I've got one?!
Suppose the server should detect my User Agent and hide this link in such case

Is there a way to completely reset my personal Portal? I actually like the way it looks before I log in, but it still uses my older settings from before the change.
