How about an impractical idea: to design a counter of pages visited, mouse clicks made, and even length of pages scrolled (in meters, feet etc. - according to user's preference). People like to read stats and track progress, why not give it a try.

1. Sticky notes (aka post-it notes) with reminders.
2. Media player - music and video (the latter if possible).
3. A notepad.
4. Picture slideshow - like a photoframe showing pics stored on a harddrive.
5. Multiple Speeddials that can be switched on an instant.

1. A speed-dial based chat client, where one can have multiple conversations with friends, each with its own text-box (instead of one window/tab per conversations, where people tend to send messages to the wrong friends).
2. This is a big one: Speed-Dial entries that always display the pages you last visited on Opera Mini (it's like Chrome to Phone the other way around and based on Opera Link).
3. A speed-dial extension that uses the speed-dial search box and multiple boxes to display results of different types (or different search engines) simultaniously.
4. This should be relatively simple: An extension that enables the user to split dials. i.e: have 2 rows of 4 boxes each, and dividing the top left box to a 2x2 box grid (4 dials in one, a concept for dial-stacking UI).
5. Dedicated social networking extensions - i.e a speed-dial extension that instead of websites display a Facebook-feed item (or a tweet, or any other single item from a social network)) in each box, and lets you go to the interesting ones and "delete" the less-interesting ones (I know both FB and Twitter's APIs support things like that)...
6. An extension that allows speed-dial to view closed tabs (like adding previews for the "recycle bin"), and more importantly - sessions.
That's all for now. I will probably have more ideas in the upcoming days

Make the Speed dail screen like streaming screen with many different videos to be streamed in each small speed dail & the user also have the right to contorl the daimetion for every one to stream small one(if he want to make one bigger for more attention to him) & can pick the sound the he needs to listen to from one of the videos & also can stream one or diable the others (for speed limit issues in the Internet). and he can choose form where he needs to stream(youtube, megavideo. or local file....etc).

Agenda
A simple enough extension. This will link into any web based calendar (starting with Gcal) and list all entries for the day, week or month on the speed dial tile. Challenges may be to make the tile scrollable to see more entries, although a Previous/Next button setup is perfectly acceptable. Other options could include showing a custom background behind the tile, turning the tile off when there are no entries (a simple "Nothing happening right now" message would be acceptable) and the ability to add an event to the main calendar list from the tile. Finally a button to access the main version of the calendar page would be appreciated too.
Daily News
This would show a newspaper on the speed dial which is linked up to a feed reader and showing the latest headlines. Clicking on the newspaper tile would expand the paper to full size over the speed dial screen enabling readers to turn the pages and read each story with the title as a headline, the site as the author and so on and so forth. The newspaper would have several tabs down the side (which can be individually turned on and off in settings) allowing users to change section to sports, gossip, comics, etc and these sections can have individual feeds linked to them in the settings menu.Andrei Olaru10. Why not treat the speed dial page like the home screens of an android phone? The actual speed dials can be the widgets
Suggestions:
1. Speed dials can be of different sizes to fit display of information
2. Speed dials update automatically by refreshing every few minutes
3. Users should be able to interact with the speed dials
examples:
1. The weather widget (or speed dial) will span two speed dial spots with detailed forecast for next three days
2. Put amazon mp3 cloud drive (even tho' it doesn't support opera

Another speed dial extension enabling slideshow of popular flickr pictures,
a speed dial of an e-book with slideshow of each pages;
a speed dial of to-do activities of each day or hour , and
a speed dial which warns the user of the time they spent on browsing.

- It has tab including social network to update your status
- A tab for reading information from rss
- A tab keeps weather information up-to-date
- A tab for checking email
- A tab for playing music and with a much larger speed dial, it may be a movie theater, people can watch youtube, video
- A tab is a schedule task and it will ring to tell people what the have to do at that time
And an extension can help people design their own ideas

We all enjoy screen saver on our operating systems, how about screen saver for the speed dial.
This extension basically either slides pictures from a folder in your hdd or from the internet wherein you provide a single or multiple url's.

to have multi speed dials.
for example making the community speed dials seperate from the sport spedd dials.
in another word:
a folder speed dial extension, that contains another speed dial screen
in continues
an ext that can resize its own new speed dials that can show a special part of selected page.
for example:
an ext that shows only the top5 eng footbal league table!, just by selectig that area

7. An extension that implements Microsoft's Web Slices feature, allowing the user to select a certain region of the webpage to get updates from (unlike RSS, that gets updates for the whole page/site).
8. I thought this was an obvious one: An extension that displays your friend's last images from Facebook ect. like Windows Phone's Live Tiles.
9. In addition, you could have a context-related extension, which displays different speed-dial items depending on the time (for example: news sites in the morning and sports/tv listings in the evening) or place (requires geo-location support).
10. A little gimmick I don't remember seeing in other comments: An extension that switches the speed-dial background image every few seconds (or every time a new speed-dial tab is opened) and uses an image folder (or several image folders) defined by the user.
