 Is this a newer widgets platform?
  • Aleksander AasMonday, February 15, 2010 2:29:39 PM

It's based on the fact that Opera Widgets now can run independently from the browser. No more extensions of Opera, but rather independent desktop applications!
  • Daniel HendrycksMonday, February 15, 2010 2:38:36 PM

You should post some widgets you want to see. E.g. a photo gallery.
  • techlawsamMonday, February 15, 2010 2:38:47 PM

Someone, please port OpenOffice. Not so much for practicality, but it would be damned hilarious.

Well, that and I don't think you could port something that large as a Firefox extension.

hmm...a new facebook widget, a real instant messenger widget (like miranda f.e.), something for access and management of email (gmail, yahoo mail and so on; I know email functionality is in opera too ), an ftp-client with filezilla-like functionality; separeted torrent-widget.

@MeanEYE: If you check on the contest page (http://widgets.opera.com/contest/#prizes) you will notice that the MacBook Pro can be replaced by other laptops as well

I'll share the same link here that I did on Facebook. The super simple "How to make your first widget":

Oh, thanx for that. But still it would be hard to test without 10.5 for Linux, since I would have to install Windoze and I don't want to do that ...
  • Navjot PaweraWednesday, February 17, 2010 3:39:36 PM

@Daniel: Minor updates will not be elligible (our judges will decide on that). If your updates are really major, update it as a new widget and it shall be entered into the contest

Whatever you can think of. You could create a paint, or music application. Just an idea. Have a look around the Widgets site and create a better widget than the ones available.

Gues what! I luv opera product. Especially 2.06 because of some special function it performs. How good would it be if opera 4.2handler can perform that special function

No, we gave out a gift certificate :)
  • Cutting SpoonMonday, February 22, 2010 7:25:00 PM

I think the prizes are better as "real" items. Sending money between countries can be a problem, and there is the exchange rate to consider. But you can send almost any electronics tax-free and easy if you mark the box "gift".
  • Prince Ram! With lots of experiences!! :DTuesday, February 23, 2010 12:45:42 AM

What ever the prize is, would be nice he there is one.....
