Gives "This widget will not read or write files on your computer." when trying to install it on Opera 10.60 for Windows XP. In other words, it does not work for me, like so many other widgets since I updated to Opera 10.60 and reported here.

I don't think that those statements are mutually inclusive(or whatever you call it). Or are they?

Well, what I try to say is that I can't get the widgets installed for some reason. instead I just get that message displayed in a small window. And I have tried to seek help on the forums at the given address. Puzzled I am, and any help is welcome

I really want to know the reason behind Twitter for Opera widget being a sudden ghost.

    Stolen?
    Broken?
    Discontinued?

I got some info on why official Twitter widgets disappeared, but I thought that was going to be fixed.

I miss the "Twitter Opera Widget" IMO that was the best Twitter widget.

Twippera is also really nice. But the german translation is really terrible (Neureste | ... | Favorten) and no button for retweet

It´s being remade and relaunched  The people working on it are on holiday now though :/
I´ll dig some tomorrow and see if I can post something about it later this week. No promise though!

I prefer the old "Twitter Opera Widget"
  • CarolMonday, July 26, 2010 4:45:38 PM

Moon Clock was favorite but not available now
  • SavagemanMonday, July 26, 2010 6:23:03 PM

Can't the widget be resized?
It's fast, but without this option, that sucks.

Just tried Twippera, it seems not working in Windows 7?

    Edited:
    Now it's working.
I must right click, choose Developer Tools - Reload in order to make this widget working.

    @Aleksander that's great news, indeed!

    Yep. . . the summer . . . the summer. . . while we experience rain now.

(My country is near the Equator, our summer ranges between March to June  )

Another nice news, too, I lost the installer, while the widget is still present in my Windows OS - I plan to reinstall . . . though.

I tried it on Opera 10.60 for Ubuntu 10.4. UI opens, widget tries to load, but nothing happens after all. Reload does not help. And like said previously, on Windows XP I can't even get the widget installed.

My Windows XP problem solved just by reinstalling Opera 10.60

EDIT: Now my favorite widget is Twippera, because it seem to work  Previously my favorite was Google Calendar, but it no longer works for me

The sueddeutsche.de article doesn't actually say that it's the best twitter solution. It merely tells that it _is_ a solution.

The article isn't very good, anyway. It starts with the statement that for browsing and twittering one needs two programs (browser and twitter client). That is not true since twitter provides a web interface, which can be accessed with a browser.

The second paragraph is actually a tutorial on how to use twippera. It is quiet unnecessary; its shortness underlines the easyness of the widget. Altogether, the paragraph appears to be just a stretching element for the article.

It seems that you can also use Opera's address bar to update your status and when you're done, your tab's address will be twitter's homepage instead.
