Updated version of Opera Mini available for iPhone

April 29, 2010 · by Espen André Øverdahl

The first update to Opera Mini on iPhone is now publicly available in the App Store. It is a minor update, and all users are recommended to update. The minor update includes several fixes to issues reported by our end users, such as a fix to the "freeze at start-up" issue, added support for Hungarian, and a few other bug- and stability fixes.

We appreciate the feedback all of you have provided us with so far, and we will keep listening to you and updating the browser accordingly. We work to make Opera Mini a better product every day. Except Friday nights (Friday beers from 17:00 at Opera).

Awesome. Will give it a try now. I haven't been able to use it till now coz of the freeze at Start-up issue. Thanks for fixing this

Very bad update. I have tried to work in the IGoogle , Gmail and Yandex Mail, and then dropped that idea. It was raw before the update. Not it's sour. Shame!!

It also works great on an iPod touch

    Thanks for the update!

Btw: How long did it take for Apple to approve it this time?

Is there any time frame on an update for Android?

iPhone 3G problem: I am behind a Squid proxy that does not require authentication. I connect to the corporate LAN via WiFi, but Opera will not connect through the proxy. I have tried both HTTP & Socket modes. Safari connects quite happily via the same route. Any ideas?

I have the same problem on a 1st gen Ipod Touch. The only improvement with this version for me is that it displays a message saying there is no network  . Safari works fine.

In iTunes you can do on the side with the apps you can do a check for app updates and it will show all updates for your apps you have

Maybe Opera servers were blocked by your company?

Nope. I sit next to the person who manages the proxy - he assures me there are no rules around Opera.

Yeah i don't think Opera is blocked here. Our IT guys are pretty relaxed on this thing and normally don't block anything. That's why i can use Opera at work instead of IE  .

    Same behind a Squid proxy.
Maybe Opera just don't use the system wide proxy configuration...
