When will we get a new default Opera skin?

April 28, 2009 · by Jon S. von Tetzchner

WIR? We will continue to look at ways to improve our skin. There will be some changes in 10. There will be more changes after 10.

Thanks for all the questions! I will continue to celebrate. Hope you will as well!

Is WIR "Work In Revision" or "When It's Ready"?

This is significant as 9.5's skin was definitely not a "revised work" of the 9.26

That's what I was hoping it meant. The talk of incremental tweaks made me think of the former meaning though.

Funny, With Opera 8 I was using BeOS skin, because default one did not apply to my taste. Now, with Opera 9 I'm using tweaked and slimmed default skin of 8. };>

I just hope Opera used native skins *automatically* according to the operating system (ex. Ubuntu theme on Ubuntu, Vista skin on Vista, etc...)

There's a native skin option. I prefer this as it means more focus is put into the more interesting non-native skin, but there's always a native skin if you want one.

@calande: yeah, that would be neat.

Also the skin changes for 10 are neat, looks much more polished than the 9.6 (although I can only compare a windows-VM (Op 10) with a linux-host (Op 9.6)

@lucideer: For Windows and for the Mac, but not for Gnome or KDE.

Also, on windows, the native theme isn't applied by default.

I like the actual 9.64 skin version. :knockout:
