Your feedback on Opera marketing

August 22, 2007 · by Lawrence Eng

Earlier today, Daniel posted an article about Opera's marketing efforts. The article was in response to Haavard's post from last week and the resulting comments from Opera users. Since Daniel and I are currently visiting our new office in Silicon Valley (in Mountain View, CA), I had a chance to help with his article before he posted it on Opera Watch, which was kind of fun since we're usually on opposite sides of the country. Since our community members (especially Choose Opera members) are involved in a lot of our marketing activities, I think you'll find the two blog posts interesting. Please feel free to leave your comments there.

I keep bombarding Opera employees in the hopes of hitting a marketing bod. Not to easy to get through to someone.

I've been asking if there is any way they can provide some sponsorship for my parents who are sailing around the world. Thier on fairly big yacht, sure to attract attention with a big Opera over it. I would have thought this could be quite a good marketing ploy, to reach people who wouldn't normally know anything about Opera.

If anyone knows who to ask about this please forward it for me.

    Regards

    Charles

If you have a sponsorship proposal, we'd love to hear it. In general, we love it when our community members come up with their own ideas to promote Opera, and we try to support their efforts as much as we can (especially if the projects are good).

I have one thing to say... try marketing directly to the user base. I am sick and tired of havingto tell people who are not only compter savy, but proffesionals in the computer and information technology field what Opera is and that it has nothing to do with fat ladies singing in non english languages!
