10.10 goes final

November 23, 2009 · by Huib Kleinhout

No new 10.10 snapshots today, the final version is ready! :hat:

We'd like to thank everyone for testing the snapshots, and thereby helping to iron out the last issues. The latest snapshot (windows build 1893) is the final release. So if your running that build you do not need to upgrade.

Are you using Opera 10.10 with Unite? Please help us to spread the word about the new release!
Download Opera 10.10

Stay tuned for 10.2 alpha snapshots! :-)

Stay tuned for 10.2 alpha snapshots! :-)

So when can we expect them? Next Friday?

Carakan & Vega is ready for the next version?

    Thanks for the 10.1 release.
  • Joak1m23. November 2009, 09:14

Umm, it says I'm not running Opera Unite on any computers right now, even though I am, anyone else with same problem?
  • ruario23. November 2009, 09:14

    @Cjcr: Unlikely for 10.20.
  • Robert9023. November 2009, 09:20

    @Cjcr: Unlikely for 10.20.

So can you give us some more info about what 10.20 is going to be about? Will it be a Presto update to 2.4, without the exciting new stuff (carakan, vega etc.) but including the new presto stuff (<video>, border-radius etc.), or are there also some new things planned for 10.20 (like Unite was for 10.10, or Turbo for 10, or Link for 9.5)?
  • TealOne23. November 2009, 09:20

Hopefully you'll fix this bug in 10.20:

    I can't select another option with Arrow-Up/Down-Key.

Or can nobody reproduce this bug? Or should I create a bugreport? Or is this a well known bug (then tell me and I won't repeate myself )?
  • Culip23. November 2009, 09:23

Is this the same as rc-4742 which was released 2 days ago?

Now I'm using Opera rc-4742. I tried to install the final version for Ubuntu 9.10/10.04 but the installer displayed an error message: 'Newer version has already installed.'

Should I keep on using rc-4742, or uninstall it and install the final version?
  • Cjcr23. November 2009, 09:25

    @ruario: thanks for reply.
suppose to be launched for a major version... :worried:
  • Old-Nick23. November 2009, 09:28

    Oh YES. finally !

    No, it's the same version.

    it`s interesting
  • phanikumarseelam23. November 2009, 09:32

    Congrats on the final release.
I think it would be great if there was a blog post on what we could expect in future versions of Opera, kinda like the post on Opera 9.5 and 10.

At least, I can't. Works perfectly for me with Win XP SP2.
  • refresz23. November 2009, 09:41

that's kinda strange that 1893 goes final, since since 2-3 snapshots my opera likes to freez for something like 5 seconds many times and opera unite likes to have "unite server error" sometimes...

You can change this setting in the Preferences (Extra->Preferences->General->Startup: Start with Speed Dial.

    Understandably.

How 10.2 this will be what 10.11 not 10.20?

Anyway this one it's good for me, i have one complaint so far:
Personal bookmarks are changing location if i open http://www.playmobsterworld.com i had it on last (Personal Bar) but when used was put on the front. I like to have the same location position like is on My Opera Link Page.

    filip007 out...
  • ruario23. November 2009, 10:11

@filip007: I am not sure I understand what you asking but I'll try to respond anyway.

10.2 is 10.20 and 10.1 is 10.10. Some people knock off the redundant final 0, that is all.

To further clarify (even though you personally did not ask this).

10.1* will be the stable line (for now)

10.20 will be the unstable line (for now), with at least one major new feature over what is in 10.1*.

    @lwiczek: You don't have "Tools->Preferences->General->Startup"?

If that really doesn't work for you then use Opera config. Post the following in the URL field and hit enter:

    opera:config#UserPrefs|StartupType

Set this value to 4, click save below and then restart Opera.

P.S. If you have more questions like this please ask them in the forums. This blog post is about the 10.10 release.

Mee too, i can`t see any option in windows version, in Linux there is option but it doesn`t work(Speeddial not start when opera starts, only gray backround).

Edit: When changed language English and back to Finnish option appeared, but same broblem than linux.

  • Hades3223. November 2009, 10:44

10.2 ?!?!?! Oh nooo! I was hoping for 10.5 Alphas.... :frown:
    Me want Vega!
  • boxopen23. November 2009, 10:46

I have detcted 2 times a strange behavior with 1893 (WinXP).
Apparently closes without any user action (noted overnight 2 times).
Probably can be coincidence but it's stange since other programs run continuously.

Looking forward to grab and test it, I don't like those stable final versions

Thanks for the new amazing features and I'm looking forward to test the new 10.2 builds

This may not be it, but use something like Process Explorer to check for any "strange" DLL's loaded with Opera (using the "Lower Pane", Ctrl+L).

Excluding the *.nls ones, and all the <Pagefile Backed>, any DLL that doesn't have a "Company Name" and "Version" most likely shouldn't be there.

Could also check the TCP/IP tab under "Properties" for Opera.exe for odd connections even when Opera is idle (might want to temporarily disable Link, Turbo, & Unite)

There's at least one sort of "rogue" (malware) DLL that will automatically get loaded into most applications and establish a connection to some server somewhere, but for whatever reason (and somewhat preferably) it will crash Opera after about 3 hours when it's idle.

Forget the name of the DLL now, or what it was classified as (none of my virus-scanners picked it up), but happened to me a few months ago.

Does anyone else have a delay in the history search from the url bar?
Normally, when i start typing in the url bar, i get a list of sites with those words from history or from my bookmarks. But with this version, it is very slow or doesn't display at all sometimes. I noticed this lag earlier in the snapshots for 10.00 with unite included, but disappeared in the final. Is it related to Unite somehow? or is this problem unique to me?

Why I can't find final releases packed with qt4 ?

When I want to download new final, tar packages distributed with gcc4-shared-qt3. But I can download previous B and RC versions packaged by gcc4-qt4.i386.tar.bz2 or gz.

So, I don't update my Opera to final and always being Beta or RC release user.

    One question regarding Speed Dial:

On http://www.opera.com/browser/ there's a nice blue Speed Dial background. Where can I get it?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, thank you very much~for your help...

Run Process Explorer and almost all DLL's for Opera are from MS, Opera, Adobe and Comodo (firewall); remain items are 5 NLS's without company.
On "Preferences" I have some https's, all from something "1e100.net" (searched and it's probably from GMail tab I have open); and 2 items "*.*" (UDP ports)

[BTW, overnight I only left open tabs with GMail and eBay; and I'm sure I have only these tabs open today and yesterday
On the other hand, last system full scan with Avira was saturday - I'm currently run another (but I need about 5 hours to complete)]

My Borg cube (Computer) is assimilating it...
Sharing has never been easier, than today with Opera.

I am really looking forward to Opera 10.20, what nice
new (and partially long awaited) features will it bring?
    Possibly:
    *Private/Incognito/InPrivate/... Browsing
    (FF3.5; Safari 4; Chrome 3; M$IE8) :wait:
*Advanced Plugin Manager (global & site preferences)
(same as or even better than than FF 3.5) :wait:
    *Complete FF-NoScript Functionality :wait:
    *Plugin-, Widget-, Unite-app- and search-engine
    Auto-Update-check (look @ FF 3.5/3.6) :wait:
    *Google maps search-engine default included.
*Advanced AD-Blocker: Blocking of specific AD flash
and AD text like the pictures and auto AD block-list download
(same as or even better than than AdBlock+ @ FF 3.5)

These are the things, that the most Firefox, Safari and
Chrome (and M$IE) user are missing and keeping them away from Opera.

Edit: Opera with Qt4.5.x for Linux would be nice.

    I only have there:
    continue form last time
    continue saved session
    start with homepage
    start without opening tabs
    show start-up dialog

So i guess setting it to four would chose option "start without opening tabs", but selecting this causes "starting without opening tabs" exaclty (it might be due to enabling opera to have windows without any tabs, will have to investigate it further)

P.S. If you have more questions like this please ask them in the forums. This blog post is about the 10.10 release.

It wasn't question per se, just an observation and possible bug? wasn't (and still aren't) sure what's causing this, tho EOT on my part in this subject.
    cheers

The 10.10 final is the same as the last RC published, so if you installed that, then you already have the (Qt4) final. That said they are on our ftp server as well, i.e.:

    32bit (intel) Qt4 Linux = opera-10.10.gcc4-qt4.i386.tar.bz2

    64bit Qt4 Linux = opera-10.10.gcc4-qt4.x86_64.tar.bz2

As to why www.opera.com/download doesn't link to them for anything other than openSUSE 11.2. This has been covered before.
