    it's very long Changelog
  • NullFriday, August 3, 2012 4:39:34 PM

When slowly buffer a long HD video (like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el8fw-4XHjw), the RAM usage keeps growing up to about 1.7GB, and at last, boom
    http://files.myopera.com/danei/files/2012-08-04_003027.png -

Notice that the ram usage going up nearly proportion to time, rather than actual data received. So if in a very fast network that a 2 hour 1080p video can be buffered in a minute, the ram usage is fine.

Maybe this is a feature? I don't know.

    [update]
This happens when disk cache is off.

Very impressive changelog. Thank you Opera team for your hard work.

    Great changelog

But this build can't set history search as default speed dial search engine.

Partly confirmed. The tab isn't closed when "save" is clicked. But the changes are saved nonetheless. I one closes the tab and re-enters the ghothery options, the changes made before are still there, meaning they were saved. Just the not automatic closing of the tab wehen saving is not executed.

    Pling pling ...

DSK-357099 (locked tabs after Opera start) still here!
This one has been confirmed by another user here and I provided detailed information via e-mail after the initial bug report!

After Opera start, every minimized tab after the currently maximized one is locked/grayed out!
Will this extremely annoying bug ever be fixed?!

It's blazing fast! But unfortanetly, images aren't loading on any webpage. Didn't alter the settings and displaying images is enabled. If I do Reload Image, then that one image does show.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu 12.10 (both 64-bit)
Build: this latest one (summer core update)

  • sleepyheadFriday, August 3, 2012 6:30:49 PM

Weirdly, since the update, half the pages load really slow, even if they are small pages they take minutes and minutes to load, if they ever finish.
Other pages just load as quickly as ever.

wikipedia is on of the very slow ones for me.

  • CryioFriday, August 3, 2012 6:31:21 PM

That is the biggest changelog I have ever seen. Great job Opera.

You even completely jumped a Core Update. 2.10 for 11.60/12.00, 2.11 for 12.50 and then to 2.12 still for the 12.50, and you aren't even in Pre-Alpha.

Yes, that started to happen over here as well. But I noticed it only after Opera was running for a few hours. It didn't appear right away. Pages which loaded fine at startup (like this blog) now take forever :bug:

I updated the description of the new "Update Delay" settings:

    • CORE-46593 New opera:config settings - "First Update Delay" (the longest we are prepared to wait for unstyled content) and "First Styled Update Delay" (how long we want to delay styled paints to ensure that as much content as possible is there once we paint)

That bug happaned in previous versions as well if Opera crashed in a very unlucky moment (saving some files)... You'll have to MANUALLY clear corrupted cache files and history database in your profile folder, or alternatively, backup your profile, reinstall clean Opera and move only those files you need from backup (e.g. notes, bookmarks, speed dial, mail and so on)...
  • DeathamnsFriday, August 3, 2012 7:04:43 PM

CORE-44881 Mousemove events sometimes report wrong screen coordinates (image panning jumps around)
    Finally! Thanks!

CORE-43199 Opera should not show loading indication for images not in the DOM
Why is this a good idea? Now I have no idea if a page is pre-loading images or not, and I don't know when to stop it, because I don't see that they are loading.

CORE-45525 Crash on trying to draw some SVG content into Canvas
As far as I know Opera is not even able to draw SVG images to canvas. Link. Or what SVG content we're talking about?

DSK-139675 Problems with key event handling on Mac
Not only on Mac. On Win7 I can't detect many keypress with JavaScript (for example functional keys, or backspace, tab, arrow keys, delete, insert, home, end, page up, page down, also some combinations like ctrl+alt+shift+space or ctrl+alt+- ...)

Cleaning the Private Data seems to clears the extension preferences.

Pretty serious redrawing issues with fixed elements if the page is not scrolled to top. Also the part that is under the first visible part won't be re-rendered.
    Screenshot.

Screenshot API does not give back what I see on a page when its size is not 100%. If the page size is more than 100%, then it will take a smaller shot in width that the original page size is. If the page size is smaller, the it will print the scrollbars on the image.
Also the quality is not the same, and some letters' tail or head is chopped off (f or j) (I saw this on theverge.com).

CSS animations usually get stuck (won't animate back to default state). For example on the addons catalog, move your mouse through the large icons, and they'll keep their hover state.

Also pages are loading extremely slow. Some of them need a minute or more, but former versions load them instantly. Even local files...

    Keyboard Control is not Possible.
In my Webmail (roundcube) you can't navigate using the Cursor Keys, delete using "del" aso.

Worked some Versions before, works in 12.01.
Does NOT work in current 12.5 (tested clean USB Install both 32 and 64 bit)

    Can anyone confirm.

Can provide a test-account when needed.

System Win7 X64 no HWA (occurs on XP as well)

I think this may force a name change to v12.90, no??
  • XombieFriday, August 3, 2012 7:29:06 PM

Ok. Thanks for information about new preferences.

:bug: I think you should add, "extension preference wont save" to the list of known issues.

    Unbelievable changelog

Love to have my Delete key remapped to Right+Ctrl on my nb keyb - but it does not work in 12.50.1538.amd64.deb as well as in the previous build. Remapped Delete key works in 12.01 as well as in other apps. Already submitted.

Thanks for great builds .. BUT .. be sure you relax too

Mountain Lion 10.8 crashes when hardware acceleration is enabled along with choppy scrolling, however when its turned off everything is fine...."so far."
  • Pablo BellucciaFriday, August 3, 2012 9:01:51 PM

Awesome changelog, any chance the following bugs will be fixed on 12.50?
All are from opera.extension.tabs.create() from the extension API.

DSK-327967 - Closing tabs opened in the background will activate the last active tab even if you have selected "Activate the next tab" the from Preferences->Advanced->Tabs->When closing a tab.
DSK-333113 - New tabs doesn't keep the zoom level.
DSK-365038 - If focus:false the new tabs are created with focus on address bar.
DSK-366525 - New tabs are always created at the end of the tab bar, even if "Open new tab next to active" is checked

  • nogawaFriday, August 3, 2012 10:15:15 PM

I use a category of software so called window-shading or window-folding (minimizing a window to title bar when I don't use it) and it worked fine for long time in my Opera life.

With this snapshot, after un-shading/un-folding (setting the windows size normal), opera doesn't re-draw the window contents. I need to re-size the window a little bit to trigger a re-draw cycle.
I hope this can be fixed in next snapshot.

That's an interesting setting to play with. What units does the setting manage? Millisecond?

I could not find the "First Styled Update Delay" setting but did find "Styled First Update Timeout" in opera:config. I am confused now. Could you shine a light here Haavard?

And before I forget. That's an amazing change log. Congratulations. :sherlock: :coffee:
