A couple of more fixes

April 22, 2010 · by Haavard

This is RC4 of 10.52 final for Mac and Windows. It fixes CARAKAN-1144 (Frequent crashes at Facebook) and CORE-27753 (Freezing at Google Maps and dell.com).

As always, try to keep comments on-topic. They should be somewhat brief, and yet descriptive enough for other people to be able to reproduce your problem. Post longer comments in the forum, and avoid inline images.

I've noticed in the last few builds that Gmail (with Buzz activated) stops working. Haven't noticed any pattern yet. Anyone else?

I'm on Linux, x_64 with 4 GB of RAM.
  • Siddhartha22. April 2010, 10:10

When upgrading from 3366 dragonfly page refuses to open because i think the security settings do not allow it to load (no Certificate approvement pops up). I had to open the dragonfly link as a new tab and approve manually.
    Win7 x64

Edit: ok it is mainly my fault, my computer date was set to 2009 and the dragonfly certificate do not load automatically.

    10.5x = Opera Vista

    DSK-294669 (OSX) & DSK-295433 (PC) - cached links
    1. google search for "hello"
    2. cmd-shift-l (OSX) or ctrl-shift-L (win) - links
    3. search for "cached"
    4. tab to main window
    5. up left right

beach ball OSX or freeze on PC

    OK in 10.20
    10.5x freezes too.
  • Tracio22. April 2010, 10:30

Flip forward and flip back are broken for me on these last two release candidates for OSX. Opera displays the *document popup menu* right after releasing the right click mouse button.

I know that some people did experience similar issues on Beta2 and previous snapshots but since I didn't see it on RC1 and RC2 I assumed it had been fixed...

    Concerning bug with http://olymp.yandex.ru
There are 2 types of pages: one which loads ok and the other which causes the bug. I've tried with clean 3368 install and got the bug
You'll definitely hang up your opera when you'll see
    this type of page:
    http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6485/buggyt.png
You just need to refresh the page couple of times (dunno why it happens)
    Everything runs on 7/Vista

http://thunderboltgames.com still causes insane CPU and memory consumption that very quickly turns into thrashing. Stay there for about a minute and you'll most likely need to restart Windows, assuming you eventually manage to end the process which will be hogging all your CPU cycles.

    Confirmed.

    Still shortcut bug.

"Platform Mac, { Command=Switch to previous page" on the left most tab fires "Back" instead of "Switch to previous page".

Found another crasher, similar to what I found earlier this morning.

    Who can confirm this crash?

    1. Surf to http://www.northseajazz.com/nl/content/no_active_schedule.aspx
    2. On the right, you'll see a Flash applet with pictures of North Sea Jazz '09.
    3. Perform the back gesture on the applet, so basically click and hold the right mouse button while the cursor is on the applet, then drag to the left, then release.
    4. You're now back at the previous page. Perform the forward gesture with your mouse.

Now, a message box appears to tell you that the Shockwave Flash plug-in has failed and a restart is recommended. Clicking OK in the dialog box will crash Opera.

    Build 3368, Windows 7 x64. Anyone?

Confirmed. Eats a whole CPU core and memory usage rises steadily. Build 3368, Windows 7 x64.

Confirmed that IE8 and latest release of Chrome do not suffer this issue.

Adding the progress status to statusbar still makes it (the statusbar) disappear when hovering very long links.

I hope for more fixes, my blog list is getting bigger.
  • Northgrove22. April 2010, 10:53

    - "Frequent" on the Windows 7 superbar context menu is not translated in the Swedish locale of Opera.

    - Opera is incorrectly offering spelling corrections on textboxes with text hints provided by the website. For example, the textbox on Facebook intended for status messages and saying "What are you doing right now?" has the words What, are, you (but in Swedish) underlined in red.

The icons for all bookmarks in just one of my bookmark folders seem to have disappeared when you access it from the drop down bar menu?

Although it is present when you go to the "Manage Bookmark" section.

Have had this problem since last update (21/4/2010).

Am using the Mac OS (Intel) version.

Confirmed massive memory consumption, but I would be really impressed if it makes my Opera irresponsible.

I think this is plugin related issue, because the page loads completely and after closing the tab everything returns to normal.

On Reddit.com, clicking on the upvote/downvote arrows in a story's comments slightly compresses the display of the underlying comment entries. Again on Windows, but I think I saw this in a former Mac build too. (can't test on Mac right now)

http://www.dy2018.com/ causes insane CPU and memory consumption. If u still unable 'feel' the 'jammed' condition, try to 2 same tabs =(

on Windows XP SP3(32bits), AMD Athlon XP, 768mb ram, Opera 10.52 rc4, build 3368

  • JanGen22. April 2010, 11:09

In relation to my post on last build.

Has the NSL something to do with max connections (to server).
How much connections of the default 16 are persistent? Or to proxy.

Opera seems to slow down (show NSL) when connections are increased to 64/128.

I experience NSL behaviour in Firefox when amount of connections are set to Opera default and restart. But that's on initial load, Firefox doesn't NSL on reload, which Opera does.

As said before lowering the amount of connections to server to 8 does solve some NSL for me in 10.5 6322.

    Very strange bug.

    Can't enter to
    http://service.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/index.action

@ my university, when I setup proxy "proxy1.haifa.ac.il:8080" Opera can't enter to this site, but Firefox with the same settings access to site without any issues.

Other sites are OK in Opera. No error information about issue with access to http://service.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/index.action is provided by Opera.

It's strange, because Opera loads favicon for this page but can't show page content.

Gmail is not loading upon login on my work computer, a problem I have encountered on all recent releases. However gmail works completely fine on my home computer's Opera. Chrome and IE load gmail on work computer with no problems.

http://cph.dk/ gives XML Parsing Failed, not sure if this has been reported before.

Has been like this for awhile, and since no flights are in the air it has not been a problem

Works if site is "masked as FF" in site prefs.
  • edvakf22. April 2010, 11:44

    @konsys
    javascript:i=1; if(i){ alert('OK') }else{ if(i)alert('NG') }; void 0;
alerts OK for me (Mac OS X).
  • NEOAethyr22. April 2010, 11:46

Can you guys please fix the js on myspace?
    Example:
    http://searchservice.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=sitesearch.results&orig=search_Header&origpfc=Splash&type=People&qry=test&submit=Search
The search and update buttons don't work (the 2nd search button).
Also send msg's form acts really goofy, hard to get text in there sometimes and the send button don't work.

There's other bugs I know about but that's my main one right now.

Default Alt for showing menu binding is not very convenient, as I'm constantly switching between different keymaps using Alt+Shift.
And why is the Right Click + Mouse Scroll mouse gesture for tab switching not working by default?
Using ArchLinux with KDE 4.2 .

    Windows XP SP3

    1.

Scrolling through suggestions with arrow keys in the search field doesn't work on Worldreference.com. For example go here:

    http://www.wordreference.com/es/en/translation.asp?spen=oiga

and start typing in another word, let's say "izquierda".

    2.

Embedded 3D street view doesn't work on this page:

nor does the not embedded one (link below the embedded content I linked).
