Happy Tuesday!

June 14, 2011 · by Helge Gjølme

Hello all, after a long weekend in the Oslo office we are ready to present you with a new build.

This new build has a lot of interesting new stuff like some new core features:
- Indeterminate state for HTMLInputElement.indeterminate and checkboxes.
- EventSource is now enabled for Web Workers.

There are some performance and memory usage improvements in this build, the highlight here is a big speed up for parseInt.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Some improvement deleting RSS feeds, but still some problems. I managed to delete one, but another one remained, and numerous deletes did not remove it. Drag it to another folder, and it finally disappeared.

The problems with deleting feeds/empty trash/delete permanently are not supposed to be fixed yet in this build smile

F4 still opens the Panel in ALL windows, and also shows the Find in Page toolbar... Weird
  • GreLI14. June 2011, 13:40

What does «CORE-7874 Broken radial gradients» mean? Radial gradients are still broken/not working yet.
«DSK-318787 Text with opacity is not painted when baseline is outside painting buffers» reminds me still disappearing text on twitter.com: http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23Opera (DSK-339195)
  • Bhikkhu PesalaPesala14. June 2011, 13:40

    1. Install does not remember its last used folder.
    2. Stacked tabs no longer stacked on continue from last time.
  • Gousti FruitGoustiFruit14. June 2011, 13:43

Visual Tabs still display inconsistent heights when positioned at the bottom.

"CORE-7874 Broken radial gradients" refers to radial gradients in HTML5 canvas, not CSS3 radial gradients.

I still have to click inside a newly opened page in a new tab before I can browse tabs back and forth with 1 and 2 (having single key shortcuts enabled). It's as if new pages aren't in focus. This bug did not show up until a couple of builds ago, in the Beta and a few after that it worked fine.

Present on both Win 7 x64 and OS X 10.6.7.

EDiT: To be more specific, this only happens if I open a new tab and go to a web page. Shift + clicking to open a page in a new tab works like it should, as I am then able to browse tabs with 1 and 2.

I also mentioned this bug a couple builds ago (unable to switch pages with Ctrl+Tab/Shift+Ctrl+Tab after creating a new tab until I click on some element to give it the focus.
I don't have single key shortcuts enabled.

http://clients.futuremark.com/peacekeeper/: complex graphics test (the last one from c.g.t., the one with spaceships) is lagging (the others are fine) since this snapshot
  • QuHno14. June 2011, 14:33

HTMLInputElement.indeterminate seems to affect the skin too and leads to wrong display of checkboxes. See DSK-339373

The upper and the lower half show a default speeddial with the same settings. Look at the view bar and compare with the true settings shown in the F12 menu in the upper half.

    Great new build! Amazing changelog.

However there is a bug, that started a couple of snapshots ago, with restored tabs turning up at the wrong position in the pagebar.

I believe it has something to do with tab stacking. To reproduce, try this:

    1. Open, say ten tabs with random sites in Opera.

    2. Stack the first and second tab.

    3. If you close the third tab (first tab after the stack), it will be restored to an incremented position of 1 i.e. the fourth position, counting the stack as well.

    4. Now if you add another tab to the initial stack, and do 3. again, the restored tab will now open at the fifth position.

    5. If you continue doing this, the incremented position of the restored tab will soon become invalid, and the restored tab will start showing up in position 1 instead.

It's a simple indexing bug, so I hope it's not too hard to fix.

Anyway, thanks for your continued hard work, it's always appreciated. coffee

EDIT: I'm on Windows 7 x64, just in case.

Does "DSK-286597 Starting Opera again to get new window in SDI mode doesn't work"
fix the problem that when we change the tabs position (top/left) it changes across all windows? If yes, that's great! :-)
