More Ragnarök fixes (and then some) for Tunny

November 22, 2011 · by Haavard

This Tunny (Opera 11.60) snapshot contains a few Featherweight skin fixes and fixes to the e-mail client, but what we are really looking for this time is feedback on the Ragnarök HTML5 parser.

Keep an eye out for about any NSL (Never Stops Loading) issues compared to 11.5x, or pages that load differently or don't load at all when using Ragnarök.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

#BlackTuesday here in South Africa, as our democracy is threatened Opera's new snapshot takes the edge off the day.

    Testing... YAY !

    "Further Ragnarök fixes"

Does it fix the issue "updating ARIA attributes on elements can reset the scroll position"?

  • ØzikzakatakTuesday, November 22, 2011 4:08:01 PM

    first! testing sad
  • Ruarí ØdegaardruarioTuesday, November 22, 2011 4:08:36 PM

Just a minor clarification. Linux/FreeBSD users would likely only have noticed CORE-692 if they did not have Microsoft Core fonts installed. Just in case anyone was wondering why they didn't see the issue. wink

No, I am waiting for 12.x. All 11.6x makes BSOD on Youtube on my system. 11.5 and 12.x are stable and solid. My system, my data are much more important then new Opera.

[Mac OS X 10.6.8] Feed headlines are not longer ridiculous big - but now they are a bit too small. Why not display them at the same size as the mail subject?
  • ViskiVmannTuesday, November 22, 2011 4:35:31 PM

Agree on slow GMAIL with new interface perfomance.
Seven x32, both 10.52 and 10.6 versions. Did not test 12 snapshots.

  • MichałEmdekTuesday, November 22, 2011 4:44:30 PM

Finally smaller title in M2. :-)
    But other issues remain:
    - no favicons in address field dropdown;
    - KDE style issues (most annoying wrong menu bar background);
    - message zoom not preserved in M2.
  • nimu_channimuchanTuesday, November 22, 2011 4:46:32 PM

There is a few "minor" UI bugs left :

    - The "Manage Bookmarks..." icon is blurred.
    - Search in the address field, then ctrl + T -> The icon next to "Web" in the address bar has disappeared.
    - Click on the "Web" icon in the address bar with a site without "?..." in its URL -> You can see some strange arguments about Opera confused
    __________________________________________________
The new selection cursor is :
    1) not always shown over text,
    2) uggly
And 3) in a word -> useless. faint

EDIT : see next part here : http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/11/22/ragnarok#comment75347032
EDIT BIS : the fix is here : http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2011/11/22/ragnarok?startidx=150#comment75408572

Can I disable it ? If not, can I have an option in opera:config for example ?
    Thanks.

PS: But Ragnarök is pretty cool up

Is Google Suggest (in search field and address bar) working again? It's currently broken in v12, and last I looked in v11.6, too.

Contents are too small when compared to Firefox/Chrome.

Also there is a high CPU usage on facebook.com

I think I-beam should only be used for text which is editable.

With this new selection cursor, you cannot make any difference between a HTML5 ContentEditable and text which is not.
Go here for example : http://html5demos.com/contenteditable and tell me if you can. bomb

This build has broken toolbar with O-button, when tabs position = bottom. Neighbors of O-button (in same panel) is invisible.
    Is it know problem?
  • SerpherTuesday, November 22, 2011 5:06:52 PM

NSL webpage is now GMail in Opera 12.
  • AshusTuesday, November 22, 2011 5:07:05 PM

Opera always caches js or css files when no caching is set in HTTP header. Even though I've set caching to Always check (both in options and in opera:config), no request is sent even after trying to refresh the page.

Only 404 error is given back for favicon on .js file refresh in Dragonfly network request monitoring. Even if I check the Disable caching in Dragonfly, it still uses the cached page and never sends another request.

Btw. nice changes in the mail client, but one regression: I start typing my answer in the quick reply, switch to other e-mail and back, and the message is gone. Earlier this wasn't happening.
And I'd still like to see my auto-filled signature on top when replying to mail smile

Very good point, even if all other do it wrong that doesn't mean that we should do the same, it won't magically become correct or logical. ;-)

Moreover, I usually set cursor to normal so pages in other browsers look correct, like web pages not like editable documents.

Same painfully slow new GMail here.
    Win7 x64

I first thought it's because my Atom nettop is not powerful enough. But seems it's more global issue with Win7.
On WinXP I do not have any GMail performance complaints.

Is it so hard to release a new build of 12?
  • KonstantinzxcatTuesday, November 22, 2011 5:14:01 PM

StaySecureSD and IcoLog extensions looks different in 11.6. In both cases bages don't displayed: views number in IcoLog and product orded in StaySecureSD preferences.

In SSSD the following code used:
    CSS: #bug:before {content:attr(data-num)}
    HTML: <input type="checkbox" id="bug" data-num="1" />

Nothing displayed before checkbox in 11.6.

No it isn't hard but 11.60 will release first and hence it must get the majority of testing if we want it to be stable any time soon. If we always gave you 12.00 builds many of you would not test 11.60 at all and we need your feedback on these builds first and foremost.

Featherweight regression: Open any mail view in two-lined message list where there is a lot of mail (more than the browser height) and scroll up slowly.

OS: Win7 x64 with Aero Glass

    Anyone confirm?

    Second bug:
    1. Click any note entry on the Notes panel (
    2. Set the focus into the note entry
    3. The title of active note will be white on bright background, so almost invisible.

    Anyone confirm?

+1 and the submit buttons and the checkbox (which are OS native sad)

If you still have mouse button pressed, it is usual OS behavior. All Windows programs have the same for me (including other browsers, even Safari).

    Do you meant this?

If not, this lines appear when you scroll up in the mail/feed panels ( only that row whit the i only saw it in the feed.....dont have that much mails atm ).
Did not see that behavior while normal browsing ( only add this because i know that there was the same bug in older Opera releases ) yet.

That's been the case for a long time. Unfortunately, for years now there have been several reasons to spoof as another browser (FF, in my case) with Amazon. That's one of them. Another are the menus on the home page. Etc.

I was thinking the same. There is really NO reason to introduce it. If at all make it appear as soon as the mousebutton is held down and not on hovering!

This build is the first in a while of 11.6 & 12, which makes ACID3-test load EVERY time reliably again (on Win8, not Linux!). Thanks for the fix smile
  • blaximaTuesday, November 22, 2011 5:49:55 PM

I know this doesn't have to do with the HTML parser but,

The mail client has some weird skin and bar issues when upgrading.

Spam and delete icons are randomly displayed using the tab_attention.png

The view images bar is not displayed initially

The tabs themselves on the pagebar are now too high and cropped off the window

    win xp sp3

  • PengePenge4Tuesday, November 22, 2011 5:52:05 PM

The blue color on the absolutely new (even nor clicked) disappeared. It's bug or feature? I hope the former.
  • AvolaTuesday, November 22, 2011 5:54:59 PM

Wait, did you finally fix the skin so we don't have to edit skin.ini manually to remove the top tab gap?

Can anyone confirm new Gmail UI seems better when (not suprisingly) used with Mask As Firefox? Or is it just me?
  • SpinalSpinal83Tuesday, November 22, 2011 5:56:58 PM

Ah, the NSL issues were/are caused by Opera itself? I just thought my internet was crappy today p thanks for clearing that up smile
