More snapshots

August 20, 2009 · by Cato

Here's another snapshot.

Today you have two options to choose from: You can choose Opera 10.0 or Opera 10.10 with Unite. We're still working on polishing Opera Unite. We'll release the beta version of Opera 10.10 as soon as possible after the release of 10.0.

If you've installed any of the older snapshots or betas and set Opera to download all snapshots in opera:config you should automatically get updated to today's snapshots of Opera 10.0.

If you want to test out Unite, however, you'll have to download today's build of Opera 10.10 and install it manually. After that you'll be autoupdated to the next snapshot of Opera 10.10.

Highlights
  • Opera should now run on FreeBSD 8

Known Issues
  • No AMD64 FreeBSD 7/8 build
  • Clicking the preview as a visitor in the photo sharing service does not work with restricted/private access

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

 So we can expect a 10.0 release without unite really soon? Followed by a 10.10 release after it.

Love the idea, because otherwise unite would delay the 10.0 release to long (I think)

Reverted Fix to Bug DSK-243508 (Opera tray icon transparency issue in Qt4 builds with dark themes): Caused other issues. An alternative solution will be found.

No more black squares (I hope) Hope you find a real solution for the transparency issues soon.

you should automatically get updated to today's snapshots of Opera 10.0.

I didn't work in my case.
I've also got removed the Opera Link icon after installing the 10.0

Thanks god you are going to release 10 without unite, cause 9.64 is too outdated. Hope you finish 10 soon...

Well - can't you just release Opera with unite installed like Voice (when used for the first time)? That would be great!

Thanks for the new snapshot!

But browser.js is set to 1 after a complete new install. Checking for update or a manual set to 2 doesnt help downloading a new one.
    ?!?
  • steno20. August 2009, 12:30

I'm getting tired of this stupid bug, all the fonts are missing after a few minutes of surfing. Only a restart of Opera solves the problem. Not even changing fonts or a clean install after the .opera dir was delered. Only restarting Opera... and than all fonts are going missing again after a few minutes -.-

64bit .deb Version, qt3 and qt4 since a few weekly builds.

  • Old_Bulgarian_Thinker20. August 2009, 12:33

Today you have two options to choose from: You can choose Opera 10.0 or Opera 10.10 with Unite.

Awesome! I appreciate this decision! I prefer to have such a choice.
    Thank you!
  • lordmorgul20. August 2009, 12:34

Still getting absurdly high CPU usage while loading a page :-( With or without Unite, Qt 4, openSUSE 11.1 x86, KDE 4.3.
  • HNKNTA20. August 2009, 12:40

steno, I have the same problem =(
and with new snapshots tray icon are not transparent =(
  • steno20. August 2009, 12:41

HNKNTA: you can start opera with "-notrayicon" for no tray icon at all.
  • steno20. August 2009, 12:42

P.S. add growl support for OS X P:
  • Bill_P20. August 2009, 12:48

shouldn't it be 10.0 or 10.0 with Unite? is the Unite build 10.10 as written in the top of the blog? If they're different why only 1 change log?

qt4/x64 system colors "color scheme" is still wrong
  • dinux20. August 2009, 12:49

steno, same problem here. Archlinux. 32bit.
  • zarkoh20. August 2009, 12:53

  • steno20. August 2009, 12:53

I have never seen this and run on 64bit most of the time at the moment. Have you raised a bug report?

Have you read the Snapshot FAQ? There is a section on Finding and Reporting Problems.

Do you get this with a clean profile as well, e.g.

    $ opera -pd /var/tmp/opera_temp_profile

(You can delete the 'opera_temp_profile' directory after testing)

After testing, submit a bug report giving details about your distro and distro version and exactly package you installed (the full name of the package will do). If it only happens in your regular profil ande not a clean profile perhaps you could tell us a little bit more about your Opera setup. The more detail the better.

Most form fields work, just not upload fields. I discussed this further with some of the team. This is intentional behaviour and should not work in the qt3 builds either. Hence they will also be 'fixed' to work this way too.
  • DjiXas20. August 2009, 13:11

Will it be possible to remove menu bar icon in the final opera 10 build?
  • BergRace20. August 2009, 13:13

Just to be clear, you have the missing font problem (DSK-262035)?
  • PaiTrakt20. August 2009, 13:25

If you've installed any of the older snapshots or betas and set Opera to download all snapshots in opera:config you should automatically get updated to today's snapshots of Opera 10.0.

Yes, I did set Opera to download and install snapshots automatically, but I did not say that I wanted my browser to close itself without warning, install the update and restart, which is what happened now.
