New Presto update, and good news from the desktop team

September 13, 2010 · by Haavard

Here's another snapshot with mostly Core/Presto updates. Bumping the Presto version number to 2.6.35. In addition to various fixes, it adds support for the updated Big5-HKSCS standard, and there is a known issue you may want to watch out for, where the progress bar does not disappear until you hover the user interface (DSK-313018).

There is also some good news from the desktop team. We're happy to let you know that the desktop engineering team has grown by nine people in one go, by recruiting experienced engineers from other parts of the company! This comes in addition to the existing additions to the team, and really shows how important the desktop browser is to Opera Software.

Known Issues
  • DSK-313018 (Progress bar doesn't disappear until you hover the UI)

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

    Yep :)

Hope that the cookie bug is finally fixed. Edit: no, it is not... It's a regression from about four builds ago where you indicated you fixed that [DSK-312105].

An other one: two builds ago something is messed up in the addressbar autocompletion: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/6189/operadropdownbug.png

OS: openSUSE Linux 64 bit, KDE 4.5.1

I hope we will see some blog posts here from the new desktop team engineers in the near future! ;)
  • Avola13. September 2010, 19:51

Hm, still no fix for mouse buttons? Oh well, thanks anyway. Hopefully the new people will help speed things up.

Can you confirm (or deny) that none of them came from the core team? :) That's my favoritest place to see movement and speed.

Can anybody check is it possible to scroll to bottom of print preview using mousewheel in windows?
  • metude13. September 2010, 20:03

That problem has existed for me since 10.5.

this is in Opera from 10.50 (at least I think). It happens when there is fewer bookmarks items than history items and bookmarks are hidden (with the arrow next to "Bookmarks" text)

I always wondered why it happened sometimes and didn't happen other times... looks like you're right! (I wonder if it happens other times, though?)

    Known Issues
DSK-313018 (Progress bar doesn't disappear until you hover the UI)

I don't see this at all. (progressbar inside address field)
    Debian Sid 32 bit
  • friguron13. September 2010, 20:18

Middle button scroll (autoscroll) still broken. Works for a second or two, then the whole opera session remains "scroll less"
    (since build 9044)
    (Windows XP SP3)
  • Joonas Lehtolahti13. September 2010, 20:19

The known issue does not seem to apply when progress bar is set to "Pop-up at bottom".

BTW, I think the new yet unfixed "high impact" bugs introduced in the previous snapshots such as mouse navigation buttons not working, invalid text selection visuals and UserJSOnHTTP warning dialogs being inaccessible should be listed in the Known Issues part. That should at least theoretically reduce the number of comments about them. In practice I think that it would make no difference really since the people complaining about the same bugs in every snapshot release are mostly the people who do not read the changelog or even known issues list...
  • AndrewLow13. September 2010, 20:24

Sorry, but what "Added support for multicast video streams" means precisely?
  • IKoke13. September 2010, 20:30

Thanks, all pages with problems of Opera 10.62, work fine in this Build.
  • Alexs13. September 2010, 20:37

crash when hide the Speed Dial page.
crash when download and open attach files in Opera.

    Hey!

Great built...but still crashes when i visit site www.partis.si...not sure why...

One question... how many ppl are working on opera for desktop?

    Keep it going!!!!

  • Me13. September 2010, 20:42

CORE-30955 (Form input fields with border-radius use page background, causes invisible fields in case with no border)

Didn't fix the related problem with border-radius doing funky things to the background image in a div:
    http://test.popre.net/test.html
  • Me13. September 2010, 20:44

Also, the panel on the mail page doesn't seem to stay closed when I click on a different tab and click back.
  • Avola13. September 2010, 21:02

Does anyone else experience occasional "hanging", usually related to Flash content, with these last 2 builds? The browser only hangs for less than a second, but it's still kind of annoying.

How big is the team as we speak?
  • masterofopera13. September 2010, 21:10

    This good news
  • cedricpc13. September 2010, 21:19

Both installers are still broken for me – XP SP1... :awww:

Classic installer tell me that I do not have access to make system configuration modifications while my account is administrator, after Opera's files copying. If I do not rollback changes, opera.exe fails to load.
  • alf24513. September 2010, 21:25

Scrolling with "Show active frame border" enabled is broken here on AMD64 Linux (Frame border not correctly redrawn).
  • Sasquatch13. September 2010, 21:25

Widgets are were broken since previous build (9044), they just bring up the crash dialogue.
    edit:
    Now they work again.

I also experience some graphical glitches due to the new panel. Sometimes the space the panels take are 'reserved' in a tab, but not another. The previous tab is seen in it's place or the panel when you open and close it. Sometimes it's just a small piece of 5-10 pixels wide on the panel side of the screen. Refreshing the tab fixes it. Seems to happen most of the time on a Google result page and only when you restart a session with such tab. Not all websites in the session show this, but if one tab shows it, all other tabs with the same site show it.

ps, I HATE the mouse-over feature in this reply box, it makes the text black, very readable on a black background
  • alf24513. September 2010, 21:50

Dragging a tab to the leftmost position doesn't work here on AMD64 Linux when opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableUIAnimations is unchecked.
  • Bill Sikes13. September 2010, 21:54

    two things i've noticed:

    1) sidebar menu keeps re-appearing when i open/goto mail tab
    2) mouse gesture - hold right button and click left button only works once, i have to keep letting go of right mouse button at least once to 'go back' another step in opera.

    thanks :)

    Not confirmed.
I can go back all pages without releasing RMB.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Would love to hear more about the multicast stream support. Is there a blog post somewhere on this?
  • Quadunit40413. September 2010, 22:14

Awesome news. Glad to hear that the Desktop Team is now more powerful (hopefully this means more thoroughly-tested code, especially with all of these new additions.) Great additions too.

    Installing now.

Good to see I'm not the only one seeing this problem. I assume you are referring to the problem of trying to select across multiple lines, and Opera selects the beginning of the first line. Or the selection just becomes unselected automatically.

Hope to see it fixed soon, makes using this version day to day quite difficult.
  • Pedro Gomez13. September 2010, 23:04

I have found a bug in this page: www.movietickets.com the print preview is always blue. Using Win. 7 64bits

    Can anyone confirm?
  • slalaurette13. September 2010, 23:10

Is the bug with the Shift+Enter not working from the address bar solved? I uninstalled the previous snapshot and went back to the 10.6 series because of that behaviour. But I'd really like to return to the 10.7 line and keep testing. :)

WOW! loaded over 20 Utube vids simultaneously and no lag time!
On my winXP home, FF could not do the same. IE not even close.

Good job Opera team. Hat off to you on that one.
