users: "Desktop Team... we've been noticing. There have been weeks when you've been releasing builds a little later than the verbal understanding we've had. If you're going to be doing some development past Friday, your mother and I would appreciate a quick post on the blog to let us know your safe and coding away."
Desktop Team: *sigh* "Yes users...."
Fade out...
Scene: Opera Cantina, same night...
Desktop Team: "Man, I just got off the blog with the friggin' users... they *always* want me to check in with 'em, so I just told them we were working on the next release."
Community Developers: *laughs* "Dude, you should just take some pictures of computers and empty boxes and just tell them you got some new hardware."
Desktop Team: "Niiiice. I'll have to remember that. What time are the Widget guys gonna be here? They're bringing the beer or what?...."
Community Developers: "When do they *not* bring beer? Oh hey, better yet... just take down your blog page and replace it with a monkey. You should be good for at least the rest of the night. Tell your users that you had a bad gateway or your server broke down...something, they won't know the difference."

web designer: hey guys, theres this new guy, he's come to talk to us about this 'real world' thing......
cast, in unison: whaaaaaa? but thats the world outside <www.opera.com> isnt it???? y'know, yahoomail, google, and even (gulp) MSN???
web designer: no, he's talking about something made with 'paper' .....
AndrewNi27. October 2006, 20:26:31
I've noticed that Yahoo is quite slow with this build (8629) though.

But here is suggestion how the 9.10 security information box should look a like.
So what do you say?

I know this is the best web browser, so many people says "firefox" but they are not good programmers or they are not. The EXPERTS recognize the best of the best. Respect to the builds, I'm waiting that phishing protection.
By the way, are we gonna see speed improvements?

It only worked after starting it with MFF and launching it from the confirmation link straight into the account.

I'm checking back to see what has been done for these issues:
1. Getting back old download dialog behavior (as in Opera 8.54, prior to temporary_download)
The links below explain this issue in detail:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=130916
http://operalover.tntluoma.com/tips/temporary_downloads/
2. Inline search always reverts to the first searched item on a webpage once F3 is pressed. Is there any way to start searching from the middle of a webpage (by means of highlighting start location, as in Opera 8.54)?
Any feedback is appreciated. Developers?
Thanks.

It looks cool, although I don't have Internet Access, jeje, I installed it only to show to my friends that Opera is great.
I saved some pages on the phone's memory, but Opera mini doesn't have "Open" button to browse my cellphone memory and open html saved on it. So I tryied to set opera as "default" but it doesn't have that function.
I don't why I say that to you, maybe it doesn't matter. But I don't have anythig to do this saturday night. jejeje
Bye
FataL29. October 2006, 02:45:13
BTW, Opera Mini can't open anything "local". Because browser engine actually lies on Opera servers.

I am unable to use Opera with Google Mail, not just my own computer but also on someone's whose machine and Opera is not highly customised [Opera defaults].
And since last week I have problems with some pages in my Amazon accounts, i.e. when I want to change anything in my Recommendation pages I have to log-in, which gets me into a loop instead of the Recom page. And when Amazon recognises me and I want to have a look at the newest recoms I have to reload the page every time I change anything - not to show the changes but to get personalised recoms instead of generic ones.

Stick to 9.02 if you are not prepared for the latest cutting edge software and the new bugs that active development inevitably brings. Don't complain if untested and unfinished software is buggy. You should have known what you were getting yourself into when you downloaded and installed the weekly.
And if you think Opera being just a browser is getting back on track, you apparently do not know that Opera has never been just a browser.

Well said.

1. Why in heck would you release a build that isn't even compatible with Google Maps? Boggles my mind. I use Google Maps almost daily.
2. Do we really need this anti-phishing crap that is now in Opera? I think not.
3. Widgets? Come-on.
I've using Opera for a long time, I'm not some newb or ex-Firefox user.
Nelsson, and if you think Opera has always "been everything to everyone" you're sadly mistaken. I believe that if Opera continues to be more than a lean, fast browser / email client it'll die a quick death in the coming years.

Hoping Opera gets back on track
