Opera 10.61 released

August 12, 2010 · by olli

Hei
We just released 10.61. Changelog can be found: http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/1061/

Thanks for your testing effort. We will likely continue with a double set of "snapshots" here on the desktop team.
Continuing with 10.7 (or whatever it will eventually be called) and 10.62
The bugfixing continues ;-)

Automatic update servers are DEAD whole day today.
  • Chirag12. August 2010, 14:32

Since Opera 10.50, every build I've used is giving me this problem:

    1. explorer.exe stops responding (that problem seems to finally be fixed in this version)

    2. CPU temperature shoots up as soon as i start Opera (even when the CPU usage is well around normal)

    Any ideas?!?!? :(
  • matee12. August 2010, 14:41

I installed it and sometimes it freezes after closing some tabs - the adress bar with all buttons on it freezes. Only restart can help. I had to install 10.7 and now it's ok.
  • kiaM12. August 2010, 14:42

Great! Thank you for your effort. Keep up the good work.
  • Дмитрий12. August 2010, 15:04

What happened with this server??? Can't normaly open this blog!!
  • marbross12. August 2010, 15:33

Something wrong with your server beacuse your Opera website doesn't want to load. Anybady have the same problem as in my country (Polish)?

  • Allen Goulais12. August 2010, 15:57

OK, first thing is your website as you probably know by now is not loading properly. Well can you please fix the printing as I get many pages with blank pages! I can't refer this browser to anyone if I can't print certain pages.
See for your self. I can with 4 other browsers,(Firefox, chrome, IE9 and Safari) no problem. Used Opera, 10.60, 10.61 build 3484 and tried 10.70. All with the same results. Try this page:

  • Arguggi12. August 2010, 15:57

Im having your same problem Marbross and I live in Italy, so it's probably an Opera server problem.
  • marbross12. August 2010, 16:02

    Thank Argugg for response :)
  • Scott Vivian12. August 2010, 16:03

@marbross: That looks like a serious bug that scrawls "look at this" across the page ;)
The actual problem is the stylesheet isn't loading, looks like static.myopera.com is down.

Anyway, any news on the core bugs with tab switches freezing the page? I reported some issues ages ago with Gmail in Linux. Then it was just when frames are used, now it's all form input fields and it happens cross-platform too. Still in 10.61 Windows.

The latest one I submitted is DSK-290860.
  • Necroman12. August 2010, 16:34

    Great news :)
But still, diffs on code.google.com are still broken. Please fix this somehow...
    For example: http://code.google.com/p/moq/source/diff?spec=svn741&r=741&format=side&path=/trunk/UnitTests/Moq.Tests.csproj

Will Vega in Opera 10.70 support hardware acceleration like IE9 alpha and Fx4 beta do?

It is compulsory if the speed crown is to be kept.
  • Laurent12. August 2010, 17:12

Haven't tried this version yet but I can confirm the forum display issue in Opera Mini: no style sheet.

Why does it always take so long to put updates on http://deb.opera.com/opera/?

What is the reason for security updates, if you don't get the immediately. What is the problem of putting the same files you already offer for download, on this server? Why doesn't your regular release process cover this automatically.
  • PraetorianX12. August 2010, 17:37

Blog seems back to normal now.
Great job on the 10.61 release, in the middle of August no less.

Great progress! I hope a faster page loading in 10.7
  • moscher12. August 2010, 17:45

is it right that my operaUSB10.60 updates itself automaticaly without a warning, message or something else.

It worked fine and fast, all old settings are not gone ;)
  • Былин Максим12. August 2010, 17:56

In print preview page does not scroll to the end. On this issue I quote from the very beginning Release 10.5. Pages printed correctly are not shown.
  • natural-kutkaa12. August 2010, 18:37

Since this is a final release, I hope that I'm allowed to ask the following (Opera staff rarely participates in forums, so I've to resort to ask here.. PLEASE do not delete this!):

Are you currently fixing or planning to fix the rest of the MDI bugs/problems anytime soon/ever??

The problem with reported bugs is that I do not know whether they're open or not anymore, hence I've to ask like this.

Here's a list of MDI bugs/problems that are show-stoppers for me (can't upgrade before these are fixed).. and for some others too if I have understood correctly:

    - DSK-287987 : Tab focus order is lost after restart
    - DSK-287990 : Minimized tabs get maximized after restart
    - DSK-289728 : Open in background tabs focus order problem (MDI)

These have been in Opera since the .50 release.

If you don't want to tell whether you're working on them or not, could somebody at least tell me if the above reports are still open or not? Thank you very much.
  • Eugene12. August 2010, 18:37

can anyone tell me where the problem is: i click a link and while loading the new page (my speed is slow) opera reacts to any click of my mouse as if i push the backspace button. just tell me if you have ever encountered such thing. i've got w7 on acer revo.
  • George Jibuti12. August 2010, 18:46

  • TinoSLE12. August 2010, 18:47

there are problems with Opera Unite? No connection - Not Found - Hostname did not resolve (photo sharing)

    edit: absolutely no connection
  • QuHno12. August 2010, 18:54

I think there are some w(e)ire(d) problems:

    http://twitter.com/MyOpera/status/20973471271

Because of a construction work accident, My Opera is currently experiencing technical difficulties

Seems to be that little bit more than just my.opera was down, see connection problems above and below ...
  • MagicM12. August 2010, 18:56

Since installing this version I can not submit crash logs ("sending failed").

    Opera crashes on http://www.gamefly.com/Wii/

    Thanks for the bugfixrelease.

Please don't confuse the users with version numbers.
    10.7 < 10.61

Furthermore this seems to me to be a bad idea:

Why not posting all the changelog link, instead of only windows? At first I thought that you're again starting desynchronizing releases between different platforms ;]

Text copying under linux regression still not fixed....
    Hope it will in 10.70...
  • Badtz Maru12. August 2010, 19:51

Middle click scroll doesn't work on gmail. Please confirm.
  • Kjell R. Jørstad12. August 2010, 20:18

Still crashes, and crashes. CPU goes straight uo over the roof (when sync is enabled) and memory is eaten up by nothing. Leave Opera runing and it consumes ALL available memory then it just shuts down/quits (malloc problem). Still useless for me. If I had been a first time user of Opera and it had crashed two-three times in twenty minutes I would never have used it again. Luckily I'm an old Opera user/fan so I'm sticking with it in hope that what I experience will be fixed (soon!).

BTW! The sad thing is that yesterday I convinced a co-worker of mine to start using Opera, even though it won't work for me!

    Is this build 10.61 RC3 (3484)?

It crashed twice but cannot help.

    Thanks! :sherlock:

Is color profile management in the works for Opera 10.7? Firefox and Safari have had the support for several years ... its very important to many web developers, photographers, and designers! Thanks!

I have been using the "report site problem" dialog to report site specific problems. Is this a good/preferred method to report problems on a snapshot build. I thought it would provide you with better background info.

Thanks for your hard work, team. :)

Darn! I've just removed Program Files\Opera Test Build 2 I was using to test 10.61 builds!

By the way, there's a bug with autopudating. International version was installed over English only version. Reported as DSK-310038
