Just one question - are fixes from 10.63 included in latest 10.70 build?

* triggers the "unsigned msi" warning
* wants to create icon in the non-existent Quick Launch bar
* demands to create a desktop icon although I deselected the option when installed 10.60 and on every update after it
Needs more work!

We're not using that much time on 10.63. It is mostly a matter of patching safe and stable fixes from 10.70, which is our development branch. Security is always the highest priority for us, and users of stable Opera versions such as 10.6 can always expect this kind of service from us.

You will notice from the changelogs that these builds include 5 security fixes. Hence we needed to get it out ASAP to keep our users secure. We couldn't just release a 10.70 as final because 10.70 contains a lot of other things as well (some of which currently cause regressions). Hence getting 10.70 stable takes longer, which would have delayed how fast we could get out a secure version. So yes, this build was needed.Ruari Ødegaard12. October 2010, 11:26

Not quite, but almost. However before 10.70 (or some future release with a different number) goes final it will contain all of the fixes from 10.63.Ruari Ødegaard12. October 2010, 11:35

Could you be a bit clearer. Are you comparing with the previous 10.70 build snapshot, which is faster because it has a newer Core rendering engine (hence that is expected) or are you saying that 10.63 is slower than 10.62?z@h3k12. October 2010, 11:43

I've followed the advice to disable Opera Unite in /etc/operaprefs_fixed.ini (using "Enable Unite=0" and "Do Not Use Opera Account=1") but there are still some Unite things visible in the browser (Advanced -> Notifications -> "Show notifications for Opera Unite applications" and Advanced -> Security -> "Trusted websites..." -> "Opera Unite Repositories" in the preferences), which makes me distrust the disabling mechanism. Are these just bugs/omissions in this version, or is there still some Unite functionality in 10.63 (and other 10.6x / 10.7x versions) despite my attempts to disable them? I work at a place where security is taken seriously, and I also do my best to secure my home machine, so must I go back to 10.00 to ensure that Unite is not in any way active?

Anyways, this seems to be drifting away from what I imagine Opera wants to be discussed in the comments section to their release announcement. If someone wants to continue discussing I'd be glad to move to the forums.

10.7 and 10.6 are not sequential builds, but different BRANCHES of development. You cannot upgrade and downgrade between them.
will have to uninstall .7 and reinstall .6 - WITHOUT uninstalling settings and files, or back up settings and files and then do full uninstall followed by install of the other branch.
OR, just install a fresh 10.6 to a totally new directory, and migrate your old files and settings to it.

tomatofan: The sysadmin guide quite clearly spells out what to do, and you can check it with a simple network test. At this point, completely disabling Unite should work exactly as intended. There may still be a checkbox or two buried under the interface, but those option fields will be nonfunctional. (Changing their settings will not activate Unite) As an additional precaution, you can add a step to the post-setup script: remove the entire Unite Apps folder.
But you're right that this isn't the place to discuss such things. PM me, or send a link if you have already opened a forum topic.

I'm not having any luck with them and I've no time to dig through the source just to find out if it's a known issue.
btw, great job on the rendering improvements guys. Looks great. Things are scaling much better now.
