Opera 11 snapshot, Core, UNIX and Extensions fixes

November 6, 2010 · by Tomasz Kupczyk

Hello Opera users! We're still working hard to make your Opera experience much better, it's Saturday, it's raining, there's no sunshine, generally the weather is bad here in Poland today... but a bunch of new hot fixes have arrived! :)

First of all there's a lot of Core fixes, and plenty of *nix fixes are also in. Next there are several Opera extensions fixes and improvements. Now you can use external repositories as your extensions auto update source. You can also install extensions from external repositories and add these addresses to white list to make your life easier next time. The extensions installer has a new look plus it shows additional info about installed extension.

For extensions developers, from now on if you drag'n'drop extension's config.xml file onto Opera a separate list is created in Extensions Manager which is titled 'Developer mode'. Each entry on this list has additional buttons: 'Reload' (you don't have to install and uninstall to see the changes now, just click 'Reload') and 'Open containing folder' which we think can be quite useful.

I wish you good coffee while reviewing the new changes! :)

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

    > CORE-33558 & DSK-317319 to fix common crashers

Just to clarify these slightly. CORE-33558 is the crash some people know as a crash on http://www.guru3d.com/news/call-of-duty-black-ops-launch-trailer/ (though it also happened on other pages). DSK-317319 is the crash that some Windows users got on minimising with Classic skin.
  • vilpapa6. November 2010, 15:52

Unexpectedly! Thanks. I hope corrections will give the chance to use the Opera.

It means less people are around on Saturday and those that are around are working hard so this was overlooked. ;) I'll see if we can get these cross checked and added but it might not happen on the weekend.
  • Dmitriy Kvasnikov6. November 2010, 15:54

I still can't see some installed extensions (Яндекс.Погода)

  • Raphael6. November 2010, 16:09

    Linux/FreeBSD (32bit Only)

If there is only a 32-bit-version, what contains opera_11.00.1055_amd64.deb?
  • Penge6. November 2010, 16:10

    CORE-33240 (Get rid of opera:illegal-url-xx)

    Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!
  • QuHno6. November 2010, 16:16

I've got a mysterious alert during the first start after install, saying: "Unite update user access..." or so, (making a screenshot failed, may be I pressed the wrong keys, sorry) that asked for username and password when starting up the new version that I installed over an existing one. I could type in what I wanted nothing changed. I had to press cancel to start using this version. A clean install didn't show that behavior.

    Did anybody else see that?
What is that good for, is it intended and buggy or just a bug?

    XP, with several .ua installed.
  • Alexs6. November 2010, 16:17

Thanks, but the new arrows in menus are to big.
    aptosid/xfce

And please comeback (fix) the old F2 function.

  • Łukasz6. November 2010, 16:31

Why is opening new tab by doubleclicking in gray area (with no windows) disabled? It was very handful, but since few builds I can't find this feature in prefs..

When starting Opera, the address field isn't highlighted anymore since a few Snapshots. Is this a known issue, or shall I report it?
  • Anton Diaz6. November 2010, 16:57
