Scrolling performance improvements
We are getting close to the first 12.00 Release Candidate and so we need to start wrapping up the worst issues to make a final a possibility. One of the main complaints has been scrolling performance and hence we have a fix that we think should help with this. Please note that it doesn’t fix all possible issues (some more work needs to be done for Facebook for example) but we think many people will have a nice improvement.
Many of the other issues that have been frequently reported are related to Hardware Acceleration. However, for this build what we are really interested in is how Opera performs with Hardware Acceleration disabled, as this will be the default when Opera 12.00 final ships to all our users. So please focus on testing in this mode for now. To get back to this state click on the "Default" button next to Enable Hardware Acceleration and then click "Save". Next click on the "Default" button next to Enable WebGL and then click "Save". After the 12.00 release we will put more focus on the Hardware Acceleration bugs once again.
Thanks for testing!

Sandboxed Mac version
We have fixed most of the reported issues we got from when we first released a sandboxed build two weeks ago. But we are still looking for more feedback! Backup your profile, and grab the sandboxed build below, and give it a spin! Make sure to note that you use the sandboxed build when providing feedback and bugreports. Sandboxed builds will not receive new builds via auto-update.
MAC WARNING: Mac users who opt for the sandbox build must backup their Opera Next profiles. The profile will be migrated to the sandbox when running a sandboxed build for the first time.

Clean profile, HW accel off.
This is most annoying one of them:
DSK-361921 (Skin problem: status bar background is BLACK, making it unreadable. Also status bar appears in the middle of page when page is loading and you scroll it.)
...then there is more:
DSK-361922 (In about 30% of time you still drag and move map tile instead panning map on google maps)
DSK-363532 (Mouse scrolling doesn't work in flash content)
DSK-364161 (Can't move restored window over google maps)
Hope these gets fixed before final.

Ars Technica has very slow scrolling with high CPU usage (I get about 30%) with its position:fixed header.
The Verge is the same.
The DSL Reports forum page scrolls very poorly and has high CPU usage.
This product page on Dell is a very good example of position:fixed scrolling issues. For most of the page it scrolls fairly smoothly and I only get about 5-7% CPU usage. When you get to the very bottom of the page a position:fixed header shows up. When you scroll on that area CPU usage spikes to 20% and scrolling performance noticeably degrades.
Win7 x64, HWA off.

Anyway, no problems here with HWA disabled. But HWA + YouTube = disaster.

Silly, but pretty in a nice way.
Kind regards to all at Opera for s great looking browser when ready.

However, though the tooltip scrolling bug is now less visible (scrolling a page with a Title or link tooltip when hovering over an element), it still corrupts the pixels at this spot on some PCs, so it is not really solved yet.
Oh, and I still have the effect that the progress bar (as pop-up at the bottom) appears in the middle of the page when scrolling up.

Scrolling performance on youtube (and on all other pages with flash video) still isn't that good, scrolling performance on twitter (especially when you load more tweets) is awful, and I guess it's the same on Facebook.
RAM usage is still insanely high, memory leaks of which some seem to exist since version 11.50 - nobody fixes them. And yeah...seems like you wanna ship 12 without native Lion/ML scrollbars, which you already forgot in 11.60 and 50. Not to speak about the overall performance which is much better on Chrome and Safari atm.
After having wasted about half a year on HWA I think you should really fix those huge release blockers. So work on it a bit longer instead of rushing to release 12 now!

..still invisible close button on inactive tabs when there's too many tabs (end up closing tabs instead of select it)

.
these bugs are not fixed too :
DSK-360016 :: wrong title over webp images' properties (identified as *.jpg)
DSK-357460 :: default skin allignment problem
DSK-364013 :: freezing opera

Why AFTER? Why not make a better-quality release NOW and for once?

Yeah, so far difference is visible. :-)
Zoom slider is still disabled / not working (also keyboard shortcuts) when viewing textual attachments, only mouse wheel + Ctrl works.

Can anyone confirm?

Scrolling is still 'laggy'. Eg: http://www.pcinpact.com/news/71064-github-client-windows-powershell-msysgit.htm
Hardware Acceleration is disabled.

Drag and drop a tab (sub directory URL) into a web form doesn't work.
No problem if it is the root directory.

Here are few examples of "how Opera programmers makes this browser slower" and even with many users comments, nothing changed until... 11.01:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1004212
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1033752
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1031022
As I said - no matter what happens, no mater how big regression was made - "code must go on". And I bet that soon we'll see new Opera "stable" release with all previous bugs and few more.
I really hope I'm wrong about that!

First time I load this page I saw a checkbox under the RSS icon that says:
Developer comments only
and I thought a dream has become true.....
Is there a way just to see developer comments?
And were is the checkbox gone?

you can really see the difference in scrolling(be sure smooth scroll is enabled)
both tested in 11.64(very sluggish even SS is disabled) and this build(very smooth even SS is enabled in my system)
and this is HWA Disabled.
if HWA is Enabled..its kinda opposite in my system
very sluggish(but i guess its just my system and my system hates HWA..)(my system can handle HWA fine but i think(as a user) opera software rendering is MORE HWA in my system than the current HWA has.
When 12 final comes i prefer HWA disabled.

However, I am not able to run the Peacekeeper benchmark (http://peacekeeper.futuremark.com/). It crashes on the DOM tests (without crash report). It's been doing that on all 12 snapshots (64-bit version).
I assume it is something in my setup since nobody else has mentioned it.

Why are you always in a hurry? Before betas there are weeks without a snapshot and the time/fixed bugs ratio is quite low.
After betas (and after the usual after-beta rest) there are 2-3 snapshots in a week with many fixes. The time/fixed bugs ratio is very high.
But unfortunately it will be final soon whether buggy or not. (I wonder what basis does Opera decide which bugs are showstopper and which are not).
After that (and after the usual after-release rest) the slow development (one snapshot per 1-2 weeks, often with few fixes) returns back.
