Second snapshot of the day

June 22, 2011 · by Haavard

In the previous snapshot, Helmers unveiled the first phase of the Featherweight project.

Look and feel is of course important these days, but we thought that maybe you'd like to test some actual bug fixes as well. This build has a number of mail fixes, crash fixes, additional Speed Dial polish, and more.

You may also notice that we have changed the way Speed Dial is reordered. Instead of swapping two Speed Dial entries when you drag and drop, the moved Speed Dial will now be inserted where you drop it.

As always, try to keep comments on-topic. You should also try to keep comments somewhat brief, but still with enough information about the issue you wish to report. If you have already reported something in a previous snapshot, there is no need to repeat it.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

    MADNESS

    ..

"Moved Speed Dials should be inserted rather than swapped"
"YouTube video freezes after you press, hold and pull the volume button"

    AWESOMENESS

Well to be honest I wouldn't care that much about the first one if there was a way to "lock" the speed dial so I couldn't accidentially delete entries by clicking on the X anymore (yeah, a small feature request and yeah, I could click slower and aim better o).

Using the giant "Opera Next" button does, since decreasing the Drag Area to anything below the default of 20, creates a large space to the left of your tabs in order to accommodate the giant "Opera Next" button that sinks lower.

Speaking of which, how does one eliminate the "Opera Next" from the button? Since the new skin, the old way doesn't work (in fact, it's already on "Images only"). This seemingly mandatory "Opera Next" text even bleeds through to other skins....

Update: You can put the "Opera Next" toolbar on "text only," however, to get rid of the big "Opera Next" graphic and replace it with the word "Menu," which is considerably smaller. It doesn't look that great, but it sure beats the alternative. Additionally, you can then lower "Chrome Integration Drag Area" to 15. Can anyone top that?
  • greench22. June 2011, 20:51

You cannot add stacked tab to speed dial by draging and droping. Is this a bug?
  • Ronit Kumarronitrex22. June 2011, 20:53

Little off- topic, but this is serious effort you are putting up guys!!

    AWESOME!!!

    1. Twitter "remember me" does not function for me.
    2. The new Skydrive does not load the theme and is relatively slower as compared to IE9.

  • Cristiancristianer22. June 2011, 20:53

    Thanks guys.
  • alf24522. June 2011, 20:56

Regression on x86_64 Linux (1052 is fine, 1054 and 1065 are broken):

When the Opera window is horizontally decreased in size, its background tabs are not correctly adjusted.
  • Avola22. June 2011, 20:57

"DSK-333668 Opening a new tab with the new Speed Dial can sometimes be slow"
    yes
Now please fix the one that causes the Extension Manager to open slowly. up

Problem with CSS on Frandroid.com (exemple :http://www.frandroid.com/actualites-generales/74236_sony-ericsson-vient-dannoncer-deux-nouveaux-smartphones-dont-un-etanche/)
  • ox0322. June 2011, 21:01

Whereas previous non-Featherweight builds did not show an icon next to saved sessions, the past two builds do. Don't see the option to disable them in either UI prefs or opera:config. Adding an icon is not a featherweight philosophy if it 1. adds to without functionality 2. does not allow a method to disable new options. Gestures '=Close other' and '=Reopen page' appear to be working again. Arch i686 and x86_64.

How would that work? Did it ever work?
  • DitherDitherSky22. June 2011, 21:06

Thank you for bugfixes, keep them coming.

Can anyone explain how to disable rounded corners for a custom skin's address bar in latest builds?
  • AndrewGazeFly22. June 2011, 21:10

  • KevinKvik22. June 2011, 21:34

Look, guys... Opera's "New Tab" [+] is simply not responsive enough. It improved a few releases ago but now (on Windows at least) we're back to: Click, Pause, New Tab!

Frequent crashes with notscripts extension installed on sunspider, youtube, various other sites that require javascript. Doesn't crash when extension is disabled.

    Windows 7 SP1 x64. Opera 11.50, build 1065.

    Works fine for me.

Argh...but editing an email body in Yahoo! mail "previous new" is screwed up again. Using the up arrow to scroll to the top of your subject "screws" things up.

Sweet, more room for tabs. Thanks!

    Cheers!
  • Przemekblendingcolours22. June 2011, 22:40

I'd like to have a possibility of removing text "Opera Next" from Opera menu button.
  • BlueFalcon22. June 2011, 22:41
