    I think this will be a huge push for other browsers to support it and allow for even more "smooth" experiences in client reaction time.

  • IceArdor2. September 2006, 05:16:29

    Yep.... Opera leads the pack. Opera's lapped everybody. Several times... O6 is the equivalent to IE6.
  • GaaraZanta2. September 2006, 05:37:12

    This is awsome, can't wait for the beta next week( you know you have something going when a person gets excited for a web browser, or maybe thats just me). Keep up the good work.

    PLEASE, READ CAREFULLY: I've mentioned a bug with Yahoo! Mail, and now I give EXACT detals on it. It was JavaScript reference error. I've enabled java error console, and HERE is the report it game me, I took a screenshot for it, PLEASE, bother to look, it will explain everything. It is javascript error, as I mentioned, and it is a screenshot of an error log:

    http://img53.imageshack.us/img53/4739/javascripttp3.jpg

    P.S. I tried to disable javascript on this page and the problem DID NOT show after, but Yahoo! doesn't let me use my mailbox without javascript.

    And I'm begging you on my knees already, it shouldn't be a problem to fix this problem fast, could you release a version before next friday? I was waiting for this bug to be fixed for such a long time. If not, then at least on friday. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!
  • Ahui8863. September 2006, 05:00:54

  • klingoncowboy43. September 2006, 21:08:11

    Oh the suspense is killing me. Nearly a month without any weeklys. I am going into withdrawl.
  • 4rcane3. September 2006, 23:35:33

    if that is true, why is opera 9 having so much problems viewing gmail (use gmail using firefox and you'll notice a difference) and edit/viewing google calender
  • fearphage4. September 2006, 01:35:19

    I remember happier fridays :'( with new builds. Those were the days...
  • Cryptobionika4. September 2006, 03:48:04

    Yahoo! Mail still has JavaScript errors, and they aren't getting fixed ever since build 8414! I keep on mentioning it over and over, but my voice ain't going to be heard it seems. Error with blank white space at upper edge of the screen seemed to be fixed but when you press "back", to return to previous page - here it goes again. First it showed me script error again, but now I don't get any errors, even though scrips don't run correctly still. Maybe you can rip it from 8414's "Opera.dll", or something? As I mentioned, 8414 was the last version where javascrip in Y! Mail was working normal.

    Here is another javascript error I've faced recently:
    http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4545/javascript2mn8.jpg

    I've been waiting for many weeks for this problem to get fixed. Hope I won't have to wait for many more... Sorry for being so annoying anyway.
  • kyleabaker4. September 2006, 05:03:12

    Will wait and read about server sent events... :frown:

    ...but next friday I hope I'm impressed! :wink:
  • kyleabaker4. September 2006, 05:06:18

    Actually... never mind my last comment. I've already read about that. I guess all I can do now is wait... or compile my list of bugs in 8552 so I can quickly test and bug you guys once more, haha. Have a great labor day weekend for those of you celebrating it! To the rest of you.........get back to work. P:
  • MisterE4. September 2006, 17:45:13

    The big white space at the top in yahoo mail is bugging me also. This problem is present in release 9.0 and 9.01.
    Please note a casual user will not care whose fault it is. All he sees is that yahoo's mail looks funny in Opera. This might even make him dump Opera.
    I hope the problems get fixed quickly.
    I know I'm not the only one wanting rock solid stability INSTEAD of new features (if we can't have both).
    Anyway, I can hardly wait the weekly :D
  • rschultz20024. September 2006, 19:26:47

    Hmm, are you people stupid or what? This topic is not about Google, Yahoo or what ever else you find wrong/bugs with Opera 9.01. This is about Server sent events!
  • Cryptobionika4. September 2006, 23:37:55

    @MisterE

    Lol, yeah, big white space in Y! Mail just makes me shiver, and it almost made me dump Opera, yeah, coz I use my e-mail pretty often, and I guess I'm just a type of a person who can't watch an error and not get nervous about it... *Votes for stability. With both hands*

    @rschultz2002

    Maybe next thing you'll say this this topic isn't about Opera at all? :D Doesn't really matter how the topic is called, we just discuss or remind of our problems, say what we expect, etc. Why not?
  • RakuPL5. September 2006, 13:20:29

    What can I say. I'm no expert about www and so on, but I'm happy with every thing that makes Opera better. If it would make it better than ok, but... give us finally a new build! :wink:
  • Stasiek_j5. September 2006, 17:33:44

    I want a new weekly, I need a new weekly, I'm an Opera weekly addict :frown:

    If you don't give us a fresh build on Friday, as you promised, I'm gonna die of impatience...
  • mohegan6. September 2006, 01:40:58

    Just one question : is it possible to compile the next weekly update of opera for linux 64 bits PC system (like ubuntu for AMD64) ?
    Because it will be very fun
  • svetlin6. September 2006, 11:37:31

  • olli6. September 2006, 12:30:31

    svetlin: See any similarities?

    ;-)
    It's easy to fiddle around with Opera and make screenshots like that.
  • Investor6. September 2006, 16:32:32

    Opera X

    Hmm... Would be a very "powerful" name... :wink:
  • kyleabaker6. September 2006, 17:51:15

    Looks like 2 more days of reading "Server sent events+example(s)" and then a brand new fresh build of a browser from heaven, haha. You all are really keeping me in suspense and anxious! Maybe this experimental deal is going to be dealing with the web designer tools that were mentioned a while back...? :wink: ??

    Fake screen shots are retarded, lol. That's like throwing a UFO in the background of your wedding pictures, lol. Until friday morning...peace. :D
  • svetlin6. September 2006, 18:48:06

    Oh, I'm sorry for spreading fake news! :frown: I was so excited about this feature that I haven't read the comments.
  • kyleabaker6. September 2006, 20:56:52

    @svetlin
    It's ok. To be honest I really can't tell you that it is true or false, but judging by olli's post, it sounds to be false.

    Also, I have never seen opera boast about the version as in that screen shot... "Opera X Alpha"...? That can be manipulated to say that, but I don't think they'd do this by default. That just some things I noticed.
  • kyleabaker7. September 2006, 05:18:55

    I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but since this is the latest thread in the desktop team blog I will post it here, as no one probably checks the other ones once they are out dated.

    Ok, so I made a purchase in ebay and for soem reason, the page worked fine until I purchased. After I purchased the item the page started producing line breaks that were adding by the second. They started adding just between the "Congratz, you've won" table and the table that shows the initial image of the product. So the page began to grow longer and I had to keep scrolling down to read the information about it. It was teh first time I'd ever seen this! If you'd like to try it, it might work if you're not signed in, i'm not positive, but here is the link to the page that does this to me...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260027972250&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=016

    Any idea olli? Ever seen this?
  • kennycrudup7. September 2006, 07:36:59

    @kylebaker: I saw it, too!
  • olli7. September 2006, 08:41:39

    kyleabaker: Yes this should be fixed now :-)
  • ViktorKr7. September 2006, 11:34:38

    Please, put the result of serach in serach panel into new tab, if current tab is not empty.
  • Cryptobionika7. September 2006, 11:36:32

    @Olli

    Uh... How I wish I'd hear "Yes that should be fixed now" on yahoo! Mail problem, it doesn't let me to sleep calmly, lol.

  • Raistlin8. September 2006, 11:24:43

    we're waiting for...

    @olly, what with slow_connection-loading_external_javascript_files bug? Are you fixed it?
  • Tazle8. September 2006, 12:15:18

    It seems that Opera 9 changes the nice find behaviour of Opera. In Opera 8.54, the inline find would find results from teh "current" frame (which could be selected by clicking in a frame, it seemed), which was great for browsing javadocs for example.

    In Opera 9, the behaviour seems to be same as in Firefox - ie. search through the whole page, starting from top-left frame. For example, this makes finding out if EnumSets are *order*ed using the javadoc quite interesting exercise. javax.swing.border in top-left frame and all the dozens of classes with order in their name in bottom-left frame come before the interesting "natural order" in the right frame when iterating through the find results.
  • RyomaNagare8. September 2006, 12:28:32
