    Hump Day snapshot.

Does the Core fix in the changelog on Opera Link address the Speed Dial sync problem with Opera Mini for iPhone...? I get blank Speed Dial items in Opera desktop after logging into OM5. My desktop Speed Dial items never propagated up to Opera Mini.

    10.54 snapshots ? Is Unix build also a 10.54 snapshot ? or 10.53 ?
  • Serge5. May 2010, 19:01

  • Darkwing Duck5. May 2010, 19:03

If you look in the download directory you will see.

It is the same version as the other platforms but that does not mean it is stable. It just means that it matches the core version and has the same cross platform fixes. Further UNIX specific fixes are still needed to get to stable.
  • Tony5. May 2010, 19:10

    10.54? :D is it true? :D
  • Alexander F5. May 2010, 19:10

I don't know what you've done with this build but opera is flying, both in terms of interface and page rendering.

    Thanks

PS - the only thing that is left for an even nicer and more sleek feeling is the smooth scrolling performance.

Yup, I saw it in the download directory. But I'm a bit confused about this because recently, Unix builds status changed to 10.53 beta. Does that mean the next public version is not 10.53 final but directly 10.54 ?
  • Ruari Ødegaard5. May 2010, 19:15

@doc: Yes 10.53 will be skipped. The same thing happened on the Mac. There was no 10.50 Mac final.
  • doc5. May 2010, 19:17

Ok, thanks for the info and for this new build

Java not working in UNIX means no Facebook? please answer, thats a serious showstopper for me.

I forgot to mention this is affecting other menu commands such as the dictionary selection one more Opera user talking about this issue (pt-br).

We are mostly interested in regressions in these blog posts. Meaning: something that worked in the previous snapshot but stopped working because of some changes we made in this snapshot.

Everything else is better handled through a detailed bug report on https://bugs.opera.com/wizard/ or bounced off other users in the forums.

We cannot fix everything at once (obviously) but we will prioritize fixing recent regressions. Then will get on to new features and other bugs from our bug database as developer time is made available.

We may do a blog post explaining this soon.
  • slalaurette5. May 2010, 19:56

Are you looking into the old "no autoscroll" problem in Gmail and other framed pages? Otherwise, this release works wonderfully. Thanks.

Not confirmed in XP SP3. Maybe a clean install should solve your problem?
  • iPristy5. May 2010, 20:01

    WinXP
by some reason unable to start Java
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
console shows only http://www.java.com/css/oldcss.css, http://www.java.com/css/screen.css and http://www.java.com/css/oo_style.css errors

How to catch plugin init failure? Reports?
  • Mark Gillespie5. May 2010, 20:19

Serious regression in seeminly all builds. The default build in Google search redirect is thinking I am dutch and sending me to google.nl

I am seeing this on ALL my installations (Win and Linux) and at several different locations (all in the UK).

Not sure if it's a browser bug in the latest snapshots, or something server-side with the Google search request redirects.

    Anyone else seeing this?

This OSX build also fixes another bug that I had previously (DSK-294119)!!

Maybe it was a regression and it eventually got fixed without being reported on the changelog?

DSK-294119 - Paste and Go in a search field opens a new tab instead of reusing the current

Keep up the good work, Opera!!!!
  • samMD5. May 2010, 20:47

    sweet 10.54 !

Through the search bar in a web interface? What system? What search engine?
  • Rafael Luik5. May 2010, 21:10

Actually no Java means no photo upload in Facebook.
  • Igor Machulsky5. May 2010, 21:23

    Ubuntu 10.04 32-bit.
In Russian and Ukrainian types nothing.
    Opera 10.10 works fine.
  • Silvery Corgan5. May 2010, 21:28

    Ubuntu 10.04 x64

Opera doesn't start with maximized window.

I close it maximized but when I start it, it starts unmaximized.

    Using current build.

This issue is present from the first 10.50 UNIX release.
  • Alejandro5. May 2010, 21:35

Even more RAM used should be considered a regression?

    WinXP SP3 x32
  • AJ_Blizz5. May 2010, 21:53

Opera_1054_3383_in crashes when I use the "Search with Google" feature(yes, I am still using this feature. Bad habit, I suppose... ;-).

The search engine feature works perfect when I use the address field for search, though...

Please don't get mad. I thought that was part of another bug entirely. When describing a bug, you could do so with all steps in order, without leaving important information for a postscript.

Having said that, oh yeah, this is confirmed in XP SP3.
  • Daniel James Hendrycks5. May 2010, 22:01

Opera keeps asking if it should be the default browser upon upgrading to a version with a new suffix. (10.54, 4 being the suffix) This was the case when I upgraded to 10.53, too.

    Windows 7

    And what about all the others? „It's not a bug, it's a feature”? (;
  • blaxima5. May 2010, 22:21

Opera will not release memory when minimized from full screen mode using the keyboard shortcut but it just leaks and leaks and leaks. It climbed up to 200mb with no pages displayed and cleaning cache doesn't help. It also looks completely borked when using the tab bar in full screen mode thanks to the merging of it with the title bar.

"Fixed DSK-288469 (User interface becomes unresponsive after middle clicking on a link and selecting text)"

this issue is still present u.u

No they have been logged, investigated, and prioritised amongst the other outstanding issues. They don't fix EVERY single issue in every release, nobody does, it's simply not possible, and by continually polluting threads about them, all you do is destroy the community.

If your issue has not been fixed it's usually because:

    a) it's not reproducible.
    b) it's not important enough at this moment in time against other issues.
    c) some other chunk of work will fix it in the near future so devoting time to it now would be pointless.

Unix builds still crashing for me whenever a KDE4 dialog needs opening (Page..Open, Page..Save as or when downloading a file).

Edit... However, if I run another KDE4 app first (kwrite for instance), then hit file..open, then run Opera and hit page..open/save as/download a file, the dialogs pop up and everything works fine. Methinks opera is not initialising certain aspects of KDE properly.

    Running KDE 4.2.4 / OpenSUSE 11.1.

    Seb

Crashing on logging into Internet banking system on Nordea.no. BankID crashes Opera instantly.

(on a mac [10.6.3] of course)
  • beta335. May 2010, 22:55

still not usable on mac ppc 10.4
spinning beach ball everywhere you click
input fields, search fields, keyboard commands, etc
I'm sticking with 10.10, these new releases are horrible. I thought the previous release was ok was working for about 1.3 seconds then it went back to freezeville.
I wonder if they ever test opera on an actual mac, all it would take is a few mins to know what's working and whats not.
  • Charlie Clark5. May 2010, 23:01

Argh! Another snapshot with a different profile... (Mac OS X at least)

Please announce this in the post. This is a pain for anyone wanting to check M2 bugs or with lots of preferences.

There was a problem with the first load of the startup screen. Have a screenshot and will add it to the bug report.

OTOH gave tried some of MS "How good is IE 9 compared to others" (http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/) with 10.53 today and was quite impressed with Opera's performance without hardware acceleration. Keep up the good work!
  • pios5. May 2010, 23:14

I keep checking if totem plugin works but still no luck,

    it works in FF 3.6.3

    ubuntu 10.04 i386

  • Hansapelle5. May 2010, 23:19

Unfortunately this build and the previous ones are regressing regarding the download speed on my "light" cable connection.
Of the other browsers I have installed Maxthon 2.5.13.15 has the fastest speed followed by Firefox 3.6.4 while Opera 10.54 comes in dead last.
Hope that this will be remedied soon in a later build so that Opera once again can boast that it's "The Fastest Browser on Earth".
By the way as a test web site I use:
    http://www.nhl.com/scores/index.html
As this one has lots of graphics.
