A week of Opera: Week 36, 2010

On the desktop, we released Opera 10.62, a security/bug fix version. In addition to that, we published a snapshot on the "Opera/next" branch with an all-new mail panel. The new Google Instant service also caused a bit of a stir because it was blocking Opera, causing Google to announce support for Opera "shortly".

It wasn't exactly a quiet week for Opera Mini either. The Mini team released Opera Mini 5.1 for Windows Mobile, with improvements all over the place. Yet another mobile operator, TIM in Brazil, also signed up for Opera Mini last week.

Not to be outdone by the other product lines, Opera Mobile now powers MediaTek feature phones, showing just how versatile Opera really is. Most standalone mobile browsers require advanced smartphones, after all. In other news Opera Mobile is the default browser on the Android-based tabled computer "Folio 100" from Toshiba.

Our Devices team launched a new version, 2.8, of our Devices SDK, and we launched a brand new CDK (Content Development Kit) for TVs and set top boxes. Opera also teamed up with NetRange MMH to help OEMs deliver new TVs and STBs faster to market.

And in fact, he also made a video explaining how you can get Google Instant to work by defeating Google's browser sniffing. A very productive man, that one.
