Opera Fingertouch helps you hit the right link when browing from your phone

March 5, 2009 · by Haavard

We announced Opera Fingertouch today:

Fingertouch provides visual feedback when you hit a Web link, and assists you when you come across multiple links or other selectable elements in close proximity to one another.

This should help people hit the right link (or form element), especially on smaller touchscreen devices. The demo is only available for the UIQ platform for some reason, but here's a video for the rest of us:

This year is going to be pretty exciting for Opera Mobile and Opera Mini. Stay tuned for some rather surprising announcements in the coming months.

And don't worry, desktop users, we have a lot of goodies coming up on for you as well, even beyond Opera 10. We do realize where the market is heading

That is pretty a pretty sexy feature. I'll be looking forward to the WinMo version.

Is that a hint Opera is gonna become more Web 2.0 friendly? Separate web page processes like Chrome?

I just realized that Tamil is not here, where is he?

FrostDust: Separate processes has got very little to do with "Web 2.0". You don't need separate processes for that. And separate processes also means enormous overhead. That might work for a browser which only runs on the newest hardware, but Opera runs on all sorts of hardware, including computers from the Windows 9x era.

This is just incredibly cool! If you have *anything* in store on the UI front for desktop users, get it out to the masses! Asap!
